Christmas Letters

Last year I debated on whether or not to send out my Christmas letter. I sent it out and stated it might be my last one. I even directed my recipients to my blog to vote in a poll. I don’t think anyone voted on the blog (too long ago, my memory isn't THAT great), but no one said to stop. So I didn’t. I wrote another one this year.

Best response I got was in a Christmas card this year from a cousin: “The Christmas letter lives. Yae!”

So I’ll try and ignore the negative comments. Not that I’ve had any since two years ago. As long as at least one person likes my letters (and I know it’s more than one), then I’ll continue to write them.

I mean, it’s just a letter, right? People can toss them if they want. I’m not FORCING them to read.

I just have to keep telling myself that.

Merry Christmas!

I've never sent a Christmas letter, but I do always send pictures.

Have a great holiday!

Anne: I did include a picture in last year's letter - just so happened to have a recent one of the whole family. Pictures are hard, though. I rarely have everyone together and then I either forget to snap a picture or forget to bring the camera! I need to get better at that.
Thanks for stopping by. Enjoy your blogging break (and good luck in finishing your book).

Happy Christmas letter writing.

The Christmas letter I used to write has been replaced this year by a picture video my wife put together. It's posted on Facebook. And I'm okay with that! :)

DL, posting videos or pictures might be good if my friends and relatives were on Facebook! Or had computers! Hard to imagine not everyone owns one of those suckers.

I like reading them, but I skipped the letter this year because I hate writing them! I figured it was one less stressor, and I know I don't think any less of people that just stick a card in and envelope and pop it in the mail. That's what I did, and it was such a relief. But if you enjoy writing them, then by all means, you should!

Jennette, I figure Christmas time is the only time I ever write to some of my friends and relatives. I always love hearing news, so I try to share news. This year I only got one letter in return, and that was from the friend I see the most. Kind of sad how letter writing has fallen out of favor. It used to be such a wonderful pastime when I was younger.

We did that for a few years until my wife discovered that CVS makes a nice little picture book from photos and we just do a year in photos for the close family and make a Christmas photo card for everyone else. Easy Peasy!
