Hodgepodge

Okay, so I really need to get back into writing. I can see that happening this weekend. Maybe.

I've got some critiquing to do for my writer buddy. So that's on my list of things to do.

I've gotten the presents that need to be delivered, ordered and/or delivered. I still have to get presents for those who will be with me on Christmas morning. That is also on my list to do this weekend. Not looking forward to those horrendous crowds, but I will get it done. I'm determined.

Of course, in order to do that, I have to inventory what I've purchased so far. That will probably happen tonight, since I'll need that information for Saturday.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again – I'm a procrastinator to the nth degree!

You'd think I'd learn by now.

In other news, something has happened to me and I'd like to pose a question out there for you. Have you ever gone on a vacation and not have your boss ask you how it went?

I've had plenty of bosses and I can't remember one ever not asking. Until now. In fact, I only saw him for a total of five seconds on Monday. Never stopped by and said welcome back or anything! Is that strange?

My place of employment has started making me question if something is wrong with me. I've never felt so out of place or alone. I sometimes wish I had never left the old job. Eventually that one would have gotten better – I just didn't know it at the time (and I know this because my husband and son still work there).

I'll just use this job as motivation to get published. And in order to get published, I need to write. Oh yeah… That will happen this weekend. I'll find the time if it kills me!

I'd imagine a lot depends on your boss's personality.

I always welcomed back my employees and asked them about their vacations. But I had peers who really didn't give a flip.

Maria, I'd almost agree with you about the personality part, but he doesn't seem to have any problems talking with my co-workers. Of course they sit across from him and I don't. Guess that could make a difference. Still, I'm not deaf!
See why I want to retire?

Stacy, I hear you on the writing thing. I am at a stand still BUT the muse goddess decided to grace me with her presence a few days ago with a brand new story idea complete with plot and main characters.

But that witch (with a B) didn't write the darn story for me. Sometimes I want to hurt her. LOL

Anyhoo, in regards to your question, I have only ever had one boss that did not ask me how my vacation went because he was planning on letting me go the following week I came back. What a rotten thing to do!

I hated that job but I was a good worker and they basically used me to do whatever they wanted. Well, later on I found out that they were doing something sneaky anyway and their business was eventually shut down.

SO, maybe God was looking out for me. Taking me out of a bad situation.I'd like to think that Karma played huge factor ;-)

What I would look for would to be signs of you being excluded from things. For example if you know that you are supposed to be in a monthly accounting meeting but suddenly you are being excluded I would worry about it.

Perhaps your boss was distracted. Let it go for now. Bide you time until you get that publishing deal. AND YOU WILL! :-)

Are you able to go back to your old job?

Lizzie - can't say I'm excluded from meetings. We don't have that many anyway. And some co-workers were glad to see me come back (apparently my back-up had problems, but it did get busy the week I was gone and she just had too much to do). I'm probably just paranoid (I tend to do that), but it still hurts. Thanks for stopping by!

Whisk - I would go back to my old job if they were hiring (they know I'm available, too). I still have friends there (plus my husband & son). So I know what's going on and I'll know right away if a job opens up. My husband is always looking out for me. I think he misses me being there!

Here's hoping an opening comes along soon.

I think the last time a boss asked me how a vacation went was almost 3 years ago, and I was gone for almost 2 weeks for a trip to China. Otherwise, they're just usually too busy, managing bigger projects and pretty much leave me alone. You are probably right in that you're more out-of-sight, out-of-mind than your coworkers - or maybe they've been there longer and he knows them better? Of course, you could always ask him if he has a few minutes, and ask him how you're doing - hopefully he's just busy and will tell you you're doing just fine!
