Leap Day!

Why is it called a Leap Year? We don't leap over anything. We don't even leap over a day. We ADD a day. So, where's the leaping?

And even though February is always the shortest month, it never seems short to me. Could it be winter or the fact I know a bazillion people born in this month? And how is it so many of my family members were born in the shortest month? I mean, what are the odds?

Okay, guess I've gone on long enough about that.

Tonight I head on out toward my first writer convention/conference of the year. Down to the south and warmer weather! I'm looking forward to the break and all things writerly. I even have three pitch appointments (with agents).

I WILL have a wonderful time!

If you don't see me for a few days, at least you'll know why. And if you do, well, then I have free internet!

Happy Leap Day!

Wow, hey good for you. I didn't know you were conferencing. Keep us informed of what happens. Best of luck with the pitches.

Thanks, Anne. I'm sure I'll be a wreck until I give those pitches! Good thing they're in the morning.

In a normal sequence of years, a calendar date that falls on, say, a Monday one year will fall on Tuesday the next, Wednesday the year after that, Thursday the year after that, and so on. But every fourth year, thanks to the extra day in February, we "leap" over the expected day of the week — Friday, in this case — and that same calendar date lands on Saturday instead.

Three pitch appointments? Fantastic.

And I laughed at your first paragraph. Especially the end, so where's the leaping.

Good stuff.

Anon - Thanks for that bit of info. So why is today called Leap Day??

DL - I plan on it!

Todd - Hey! Nice to see you. It's been awhile.

Whisk - Glad I could make you laugh.

Stacy: Same here. And I agree, those eyes. Miss Wiggy was upset because Bug snuggled next to her.

Did you get a chance to see my Pretty Little Book, post? It was the one right before the ass post.

Now there's sentence I didn't think I'd write today.

Hope work went well for you today. I get to go back tomorrow and I can't wait.

Headed to bed. Zzzzzz....
