Favorite Actresses

Once again it's another Wednesday and another Favorites list. My list of favorite actresses isn't very long. In fact, I thought I only had three, but after talking with my daughter, three more popped up. I think it's no coincidence that they are all comedians, either. Again, these are listed in alphabetical order.

Sandra Bullock. One of the original three, and probably my favorite of the bunch. There hasn't been a movie I've seen her in that I haven't liked. While You Were Sleeping is one of my favorite movies.

Sally Field. Remember The Flying Nun? I liked Alejandro Ray in that series more than her, but whatever. I realized I have probably watched every movie she's been in, so I added her to the list. Smokey and the Bandit is probably my favorite, although she really got me in Sybil.

Katherine Heigl. Another of my original three. She hooked me in Grey's Anatomy (my heart broke for Izzy when Denny died) and I've enjoyed all her movies. I plan to watch One for the Money this weekend (on DVD).

Katharine Hepburn. She ranks up there with Cary Grant. And no, she wasn't on my original three, but only because I wasn't thinking straight! She's funny and can talk a mile a minute. I loved her in Bringing up Baby.

Julia Roberts. I've seen Pretty Woman so many times, I've lost count. Same with Notting Hill. When she's in some of my most favorite movies, it's hard not to pick her.

Meg Ryan. The last of the original three. Perky and funny, she's a joy to watch. I even remember her from As the World Turns!

So, how'd I do? Get any of your favorites? Think I'm nuts? I want to hear!

I think you nailed all mine too. I really like Michelle Pfeiffer, and Glenn Close, and Meryl Streep.

No disagreements with your choices, especially the great Kate who has always been my favorite. A lot of my favorites come from watching old movies on the late show as a kid - Joanne Woodward, Deborah Kerr, Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn, Ginger Rogers (in addition to her dancing), Debbie Reynolds, Judy Garland. And Jamie Lee Curtis has been on my list ever since A Fish Called Wanda. Love that film.

Anne - I like Michelle Pfeiffer, too. Not a huge fan of the other two, though!

Linda - I guess you're enjoying NCIS this season, then? I like Jamie Lee Curtis, too, and A Fish Called Wanda was a hoot!

This list was hard, because I'm more drawn to the men, than the women, so I'll go see a movie if a particular actor is in it. Not so much for a particular actress (although I'll avoid one if a certain actress is in it). Gee... I wonder why that is??

Like your friend Anne I'm a huge Michelle Pfeiffer pfan and I adore Meg Ryan too.
I never get tired of watching those late 80s and 1990s Pfeiffer films and Meg movies and although I've never seen As The World Turns, Meg must have been great in it because I'm always coming across people who loved her character Betsy.

I'm glad I stopped by!

Hi Paul! Always nice to see a new face/name around here!

Yeah, when Meg showed up in Top Gun, I knew her from As the World Turns and anytime I saw a daytime actor show up on the big screen, I thought that was great!

I can’t think of one film I don’t like, that Meg Ryan has put her heart and Soul into. She is not only spunky, but has such an emotional reach inside herself that plays out beautifully on screen. I’ve watch many films by my favorite actors and actresses during my frequent business trips for Dish. It’s so nice to have a little bit of home, with me up in the air. I decided to subscribe to Blockbuster @Home specifically for the purpose of having the choice of old and new films, of my favorite actors sent to me by mail. I can relax in my hotel, and turn my laptop into a little theater.
