Feeling Numb

Numb.

That's what a person feels like after they've been told their job was an experiment that didn't work out and to pack their stuff up and leave.

Maybe they weren't told quite that harsh, but it's how they heard the words.

Friday was supposed to be a good day. I was getting everything done and ready for my week away. My vacation. Then 3:00 pm came.

Now I'm unemployed.

And I'm numb.

Hey, but I haven't broken down and cried. Yet. Maybe all those rejections letters HAVE given me thick skin.

I know I said my last post was my last for the month, but I need some lovin' right now.

Oh great.

Now I start crying.

Damn it! Where's the Kleenex when you need it?

Okay, crying's done. For now.

Being an introvert, I don't have many close friends. It's not that I don't want them. I just don't know how to interact with people. I guess that's why blogging is so much easier for me. The interaction comes in spurts, and I can take my time to respond.

But this time if I don't respond right away, it's because I can't.

My husband says not to worry. We'll be okay. And I know we will. But somehow that doesn't seem to help any.

I love you all. Thanks for reading. And I'll see you back here when I return from our trip.

Well that just sucks. Have a great trip and try not to think about this. (I know - easier said than done.) Something wonderful could be right about the corner. :HUGS:

I'm with B.E., that sucks a big one! Especially coming out of left field like that. I agree with your hubby, certain you'll be okay. You're smart, driven, and have a strong work ethic. Even though it stings...a lot...there'll be something better over the next rise! :)

This sucks monkey balls. That being said, you're a tough and smart cookie. I have no doubt you'll get back on your feet and get an even better gig.

Hugs and hugs.

An experiment?

Did they say it was an experiment when they offered you the job?

This is just wrong on so many levels. While they may not owe you a job, if they didn't explain it was a provisional position, then they hired you under false pretenses. You wouldn't have accepted the job if it was an 'experiment', right?

Before you walk away, you might want to contact the EEOC and ask for their input.

In the meantime, shake it off. You aren't the first person to lose her job, nor will you be the last.

Regroup and start again. Use your time off to regain your center.

Good luck, hon.

The job you quit your other job to have, and they dumped you? What jerks. I'm with Stina EEOC. If they didn't tell you the job was provisional, then they can't fire you.

Apparently we have internet at our condo and have decided not to venture out in the 106 degree temps today.

Thanks for all your comments. Maybe I have a case, but frankly, I'm not sure I want to work somewhere I'm not wanted. It sucks, but I'm okay now. I plan on going to a temp agency (one I've been with in the past) and working that way. I don't need the benefits (thanks to the military) and I can work when I want.

Right now I'm concentrating on my writing. And it really is the best medicine! I appreciate all your kind words, though. Just what I needed!

It's sucks, but I thought I remember you saying you were bored there anyway. I'm excited that you'll use the time to work on your writing.

Still sorry it happened and it sucks, but you're a tough cookie and I believe you will write great things.

Cheers and boogie boogie.

Sorry I missed this earlier Stacy, I've been working way too much lately. I hope your vacation is awesome! On a brighter note you know I loved your new novel. You really need to finish it and get it out, I think it will be a big seller!

Oh WOW Stacy. {{hugs}} For them to hire someone for an "experiment," but pass it off as a permanent position, is totally BS! During your last job search, it sounded like there were certainly jobs out there in your field, and that you're very qualified, so here's hoping you find something soon! In the meantime, enjoy your vacations, both planned and unplanned - and your writing!
