Spider!

Wednesday morning I was greeted with this creature. Thank goodness he was OUTSIDE!

Needless to say, I will NOT be opening the door until he's gone.

And no, he hasn't left yet.

For some strange reason, I don't mind staring at him as he goes about building his web. Of course, I'd be feeling a whole lot different if he were inside the house. I'm not called the spider slayer for nothing, you know! Then again, this guy is big, and he would be messy. I don't think I have a shoe big enough to squish him.

I'm glad he's outside.

We're both safer that way.

So, what's keeping your door closed?

I LOVE spiders.

Happy Weekend :-)

Jennifer - He looks even bigger when he's moving around, too. I might need to take more pictures. He caught a moth today. Busy guy.

Ivy - That makes one of you (so far)! Even my husband freaked a little when he saw this one (and they don't usually scare him like they do me).

I wear a giant black spider on one of my red shirts for the pizza shoppe.

Was the spider bigger than your thumb?

Oh, Stacy. You'd never make it in Texas. Those little spiders are midnight snacks for the scorpions. LOL.

I'm not a fan of spiders, but they serve a noble purpose so I try not to disturb them when I can. As long as they stay outside, we're cool.

We have tons of those where I am. I walk the dog every day and have to be careful in the trees where they make their webs. I can't tell you how many I've walked through. Ewwww.

But, spiders eat bugs and I'd rather have a spider than a bug.

Run into a big hairy spider while cleaning out a cabinet one time. Sprayed him with bug spray. No effect. Sprayed him again. He seemed to be enjoying it. (I think he was singing in the shower.) Realized I was using the bug spray wrong. Hit him with the can.

Ivy - I've seen a picture of your shirt. I think it's cool. But it's a picture. Whole 'nother thing! And this spider's body is probably the size of a nickel, but when he's spread out, probably bigger than a quarter.

Maria - I've been to Texas (my in-laws used to live in San Antonio) and you're right, I couldn't stand the bugs there. Huge things!

****

Anne - You do have a point about the bugs. I hate those, too. But webs are soooo messy!! Yuck!

****

Linda - You crack me up! Actually, when it's a big spider like that, I find scrubbing bubbles work much better. Suffocates the spider and cleans up all at the same time!!

That's a big guy. My bro is an entymologist and now I feel bad when I kill bugs -- but not that bad.
What's keeping me inside? The heat. 105 today and humid.

Erin - 105! Yikes. It got in the mid 70s here - nice day! Of course, I didn't go out the BACK door!!!
