Going to the Movies?

Going to the movies on Christmas has almost become a family tradition for us (us includes me, hubby, and the kids). I don't know if we'll be able to go this year (we'll be spending the day with our friend), but if we do, "Les Miserables" is at the top of our list. Heck, maybe we can talk her into going with us. We'll have to play that by ear.

My husband will be taking vacation between Christmas and New Year's (use it or lose it), so I thought it would be fun to spend some of that time at the movies (since we won't be going anywhere). "Jack Reacher" is on our list to watch. Tom Cruise isn't my favorite actor, but I do enjoy his films. I know it's based on books (which my husband now wants to read – it makes me happy to see him reading more!).

We're also interested in "This is 40." Yeah, I'm waaay past 40, but I like funny movies and this one looks cute. It might even be better than "Knocked Up" (which I also enjoyed).

I want to see "Silver Linings Playbook," but it's not playing around here – yet. Husband probably won't want to see it, though, so I might have to watch that one with the daughter. That's if it ever shows up around here before coming out on DVD.

Any movies coming out this holiday season you're itching to see?

I hear the movie Puppies FOR SALE is coming out tomorrow morning. Might see that one.

Ivy - You crack me up! You know you'll NEVER get rid of those pups.

Actually, I want to see This is 40 too. Everytime I see the previews I chuckle. :)

I can't remember the last time I went to a movie theater! Jack Reacher looks good, even though I haven't read the books. It's something I could probably talk my husband into, though we're more likely to wait until it comes to Netflix.

Jennifer - That's what I do, too!

Jennette - Watching movies on the TV is nice, but there's just something about the movie theatre I love. And no, it's not the popcorn. I refuse to buy any snacks. Too pricy!

Stacy: You are most correct.

I think This Is 40 looks hilarious! But i probably won't see it until it's out on DVD. We will, however, be seeing the Hobbit this weekend

Sarah - The Hobbit just doesn't interest me. I never watched LOTR, either, nor have I read any of the books. Yeah, there are a few of us out there! :)

This is 40 does look like fun - and I'm hoping to see the Hobbit too. I'm one of 'those' people who read all of Tolkien's books multiple times growing up :)

Jemi - I grew up reading horror. Guess that's where the difference is!

Let's see... the library said the copy of "The Avengers" (partially filmed in Cleveland) I had reserved is now available. So I guess we'll watch that.

"Silver Linings Playbook" got good reviews. And "This Is 40" DOES look good.

Michael - I LOVED "The Avengers" (and all the movies leading up to it, too)! And I assume "Silver Linings Playbook" will open around here sometime, the poster is at the theatre. I just wish I knew WHEN.

Had a friend see Silver Linings and she highly recommends it!

I'm looking forward to Les Miserables and The Hobbit (even if the critics are panning it, I do love me my Lord of the Rings movies...)

Greetings from Minneapolis,

Pearl

Pearl - Yeah, I hear good things about "Silver Linings" too, so don't know why it's only in, like, 300 theatres! Show it here already!!

Thank you for stopping by! I'm reading a book set in Minneapolis ("Stalking Susan"). Coincidence?

The Hobbit will be our Christmas Eve movie this year, and then we'll probably catch the REACHER movie the week after. I have off between the two holidays as well. :)
