Wednesday Reads

A week of proofreading still didn’t interfere with my reading for pleasure, especially since I can read in the car! Here’s what I finished reading this week:

Aug 7: “Take it Off! (The Naked Truth About Male Strippers) by Taylor Cole & Justin Whitfield. This is a non-fiction book. Blurb from Goodreads: Ever wonder what goes on behind the scenes in a male strip club? Are those guys gay? How do they stay so ripped? Do they stuff their trunks? How did they get into such a business? How much money do they make? Do they have wild sex every night? This book takes you backstage and into the lives of two successful male strippers over a span of twenty years in the business. From their rookie days to their wild sexcapades and practical jokes, Take It Off! is a laugh-filled, action-packed joyride. I’ll admit it: The movie “Magic Mike” inspired me to read this book (and it didn’t hurt when I read about this on another blog). It was an interesting book, but written as little snippets of stories, most of it not surprising seeing as what business it is and all (yes, they have sex and they have it often!). I did learn a new exercise trick that I will make an attempt at. Overall it was a fun read. I gave it 3 stars on Goodreads.

Aug 9: “Tempting the Billionaire” by Jessica Lemmon. This is a contemporary romance. Blurb from Goodreads: Crickitt Day needs a job . . . any job. After her husband walks out on her, she's determined to re-build her life and establish a new career. When swoon-worthy billionaire Shane August hires her as his assistant, she jumps at the chance to prove herself. Despite her growing attraction to her boss, she vows to keep things strictly professional. No flirting. No kissing. Definitely no falling in love... Shane August is all business, all the time. He's a self-made man who's poured his heart and soul into his company, and he'd never allow himself to get involved with an employee. Then he hires sweet, sexy Crickitt-and he can't keep his mind or his hands off her. But no matter how much he wants Crickitt, Shane fears that painful secrets from his past will always come between them. With fate working against them, can these two lonely hearts learn that sometimes mixing business with pleasure is the perfect merger? I liked the story and loved the romance. It was a fun read and I breezed through it. But (I always seem to have one of those, don’t I?) there came a time in the story where I wanted to smack the characters upside the head. Are all contemporary romances like that? I’m beginning to think they are. Despite that fact, this one is better than most contemporaries I’ve read and I gave this book 4 stars on Goodreads.

I now go back into my writing cave while thinking about how to revise Bite Me. Reading might be light this week! Hope it isn’t for you.

So, have you seen “Elysium” yet? Think I should bother?

Happy reading!

Stacy

We hit Barnes last night and I read about juicing, whilst Hubby wrote. Was a short but very nice visit.

Enjoy your writing cave.

My daughter saw 'Elysium' last night. She said she liked it, but she wasn't gushing. Possibly because she's a big 'District 9' fan, and it didn't quite match her expectations, not sure.

Ivy - I'll enjoy my cave if the writing flows. Lately, it's been trickling. Too much stuff going on, I suppose.

Jeff - Never saw "District 9" and don't know what that is. Must have missed all the hoopla for that one (if there was any, that is). I like Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, so I'll probably see "Elysium."
