Christmas Movies

’Tis the season to watch movies!

We own lots of movies. So many, I doubt we’ll ever watch them all again (hmmm… sort of like my books, I think!). But some we watch yearly or more often. Like around Christmas. Why? Because they’re either about Christmas or set during the season. How many of you consider these “Christmas” movies?

  • Bridget Jones’s Diary
  • Die Hard
  • Die Hard 2
  • Donovan’s Reef
  • The Family Man
  • Gremlins
  • It’s a Wonderful Life
  • Lethal Weapon
  • Love, Actually
  • When Harry Met Sally
  • While You Were Sleeping
  • White Christmas
  • You’ve Got Mail
My favorites are While You Were Sleeping and Love, Actually (and they tend to get watched every time this year). This Christmas Eve it appears we’ll watch Gremlins (it’s been requested by my son), because it’s been way too long since we’ve seen that one. And I might sneak in The Family Man on Monday, when my hubby is at work (he’s not fond of that one for some reason).

Do you have a favorite movie you like to watch every Christmas? I know a lot of people who love The Christmas Story and can’t go a Christmas without watching it. Frankly, I hate that movie! I just don’t see what’s so gosh-darn special about it.

Have a good weekend! Take in a movie!

It's a Wonderful Life has always been one of my favorites! And it wouldn't be Christmas without Love, Actually.

We were talking about watching Gremlins this year, but our youngest is 7 and I'm not quite sure he's up to the scare factor yet. LOVE that movie. Two of our "must watch" movies are It's a Wonderful Life, and Muppets Christmas Carol.

Julia - I agree about Love, Actually. All I have to do is HEAR a song from that movie and I get in the spirit and yearn to watch it again!

Crystal - If my husband would watch It's a Wonderful Life, I'd be watching it every year. I just don't like watching it alone. :( And I completely understand about Gremlins. However, I did take my daughter to see Jurassic Park when she was 8. Did it scare her? Yep! Did she love it? Yep! I corrupted her at an early age! Haha! :D

That sounds a lot like our list, but we also include The Long Kiss Goodnight and The Ref. :)

We watch the X-Files Christmas each Christmas Eve. The one with the haunted house on Christmas Eve.

Happy Moving Watching :-)

Samantha - I remember you talking about The Ref before. I still don't have that movie. I might have to solve that someday soon!

Ivy - I've never watched the X-Files (husband wasn't interested so I never bothered). I should probably request the series as a present someday, huh? I'm sure it's good!

Oh my gosh, I love that show. And I hear now the complete season is super duper cheap. Back in the day, we paid 100 smackers for one season. Talk about painful.

Ivy - I did the same thing when Friends first came out on DVD. Bought the whole series at a small fortune. I was so sure I'd miss a season if I didn't buy them when they first came out!

A Christmas Story is just so gosh-darned funny! Ah, well, my kids hate it, too. Enjoy your Christmas movies!

Jeff - I have a friend who used to watch the Christmas Story marathon TNT (or was it TBS?) put on (heck, they probably still do it, huh?). I sure hope she's bought her own copy by now. The commercials alone would have driven me nuts!

We always watch the Muppets Christmas Carol. I love the Muppets!

Jen - I love the Muppets, too, but sadly don't own that movie. :(
