Cold as a Witch's...

Can you believe it? It’s warmer in Alaska than it is here in Dayton, Ohio. That’s just disgusting. If it’s going to be frigid here, it should be frigid there. Only makes sense. Ah, but when has Mother Nature ever made sense?

Have you ever experienced below zero temps? I know when it gets that cold and I don’t need a thermometer to tell me. Nope. I just have to breathe through my nose. The hairs all freeze up. The first time I ever experienced that was when I was stationed in…now get this…Alaska! I’m not thrilled I get to experience it again.

All this cold weather is really getting me nervous, too. The last cold snap froze the master bath pipes. At least this time I remembered to let the faucet drip (drip, drip) and the heater is on non-stop (well, as long as someone is home, that is). So far, so good. Of course, the worst is yet to come. Ugh!

I’d like to say all this cold weather has stifled my writing, but I guess I finally hit my stride with my current project and I’m sailing along, better than I have in a LONG time. I certainly won’t give credit to the cold. I give credit to finally seeing the end in sight! I just hope I’m not writing crap. THEN I’ll blame the cold! Haha!

So… you got any plans this weekend? I think I’ll stay in and keep warm.

Stacy

I used to live in Chicago. 'nuff said. :)

Those frigid temps are starting to take their toll. I've been reading several blogs where people living up north have busted pipes or have gotten injured while venturing outside.

Hope it passes soon.

Maria - I can say I've lived in worse winters, but it's always the current one that bugs you the most, huh? I'm ready to be thawed! :)

I keep having to crank up the heaters in my turtle's tank! At least this gives me an excuse to stay in and write-which I did last night!

A few weeks ago when we had the polar vortex, Winnipeg, Manitoba posted that it was actually colder there than on Mars! At least it's not quite that bad here. :D

I went for a walk yesterday and didn't get too far. The small part of my face that was uncovered was very uncomfortable. Brrrrrrrr!

The inside door hinges froze as well as the inside of the sliding door, from kitchen to deck. Not fun. We have to do the same thing with the drip, drip, drips.

Jennette - Yay to more writing! Unfortunately, I believe we have another polar vortex headed our way. Boo!!

Jen - That cold air is brutal!

Ivy - I hate the drip, drip, drips. I don't even want to imagine what my water bill will look like. Or the electric bill. Or the gas bill. Ugh!! I think I just made myself sick. It's better than a busted water pipe, though. Gotta keep telling myself THAT!

It was 25 below here at 7 AM on Tuesday. Nothing like balls of ice in your nostrils, and you should see what it does to my mustache! Good news, we're supposed to get up to 21 tomorrow! Let your writing keep you warm!

It feels like spring here in northern CA. It should be cold - and wet. I like the comfortable weather, but if it doesn't rain soon there will be no nice summer fun in the water.

Always a trade off.

Hat?

Perhaps my memory is faulty, but I seem to recall a week, back in the high school days, when it did not go above 0.

My car froze at a friend's house.

Donna - Guess we're all having extreme weather. Is that what global warming is all about? I wonder...

Michael - Was that in January 1994? I remember that week. My car froze at work! Had to have it towed home. That was one bad week.

Jeff - Sorry! Missed you up there. My writing is definitely keeping me warm. Or maybe it's my laptop - haha!

Agreed on the busted water pipe.
