The Winter Olympics Are Upon Us

Have you ever dreamed of being in the Winter Olympics? I was never much of an athlete. I loved to play softball and golf, but there were no high school team sports for girls at that time (1970s), only during P.E. And growing up in Southern California, winter sports were unthinkable. But when the Winter Olympics came around, I dreamt of being a figure skater. Didn’t matter that I didn’t know how to skate!

I still enjoy watching the Winter Olympics, even though winter sports are still unthinkable for me. I mean, it’s COLD out there! Give me the summer, please!

I’m keeping this short, mainly because my mind is fried. I’m almost finished with the first draft of Blind Temptation. Just have to wrap up some plotlines, so I guess I’m in the last chapter (yay!). When your mind is so wrapped up in a project, it’s hard to think of anything else. Heck, I had problems with the Facebook page this week. So much for promoting myself. Yeah, look at me. I’m a flake! Haha!

I do want to share something with you that made me laugh when I first saw it. The high school in my town has an electronic sign. It’s usually used to announce testing or game times. Well it now states: Coming Soon! Spring.

Yeah, right! I’ll believe it when I see it!

So, do you plan on watching the Olympics for the next couple of weeks?

Stacy

I'm not much for winter sports. I might catch the highlights on the news, but I probably won't watch the Olympics.

And Spring can't come soon enough for me. We've had more cold snaps than I can ever remember since moving down here.

I love the Olympics - summer and winter. Did you catch the figure skating last night? That guy from Japan was amazing. And the new slopestyle snowboarding was thrilling (which means I spent part of the time on the edge of my seat hoping no one got seriously injured). It should be a good games overall. =o)

Maria - I talked to my mother (who lives in Santa Barbara) about the weather. She told me she was getting tired of the sunny 70 degrees everyday. I told her I didn't want to hear about it! :) I know they need rain, but still...

B.E. - I saw part of the Olympics while at B-dubs (I was surprised it was on - I was expecting the opening ceremonies first!). As soon as I got home, I turned it on. I keep thinking I won't watch it, then I go and get hooked! :)

Stacy,
I would like to run the luge or bobsled run. It just looks exciting and would be so much fun.
I used to be a gymnast growing up and dreamed about competing in the Olympics. Sadly to say, I was never good enough.

Bonnie - Yeah, the bobsled looks like fun. The luge...hmmm, not so much. I like to SEE where I'm going! Haha!

I am not planning on watching the Olympics. I'm a big hockey fan, but I'll be honest, that lost a lot of luster for me when they turned it into an NHL All-Star tournament. And as much as I love my country, I find the constant, "Rah! Rah! Go, America!" broadcasting to be too much to stomach.

Jeff - So I guess you would be voting for the Olympics to go back to using amateurs for the hockey games, huh? My daughter is. She hates seeing her NHL disrupted!

Spring? Not for me anyway. Not until about the end of May.
