A Change in Plans

See… I complain about not having anything to blog about and then I go and have stuff to blog about. Of course, it would be nice if I wasn’t blogging about this particular thing.

I knew this would eventually happen, just not so soon, and not for Blind Temptation. I really, really love that story and feel it’s my best yet. But my publisher doesn’t want it (paranormal romance is selling slowly), which leaves me free to self-publish it.

I’m glad I have that option to consider. It certainly beats sending it out on submission. I mean, what publisher is going to want the third book of a series that started with another publisher? And it’s not as scary as it seemed last year. Still…it’s a lot more work on my part and we all know how lazy I am (haha!).

So it appears my road is changing a bit. A little bumpier with more outlying costs, but will get me to the same place. I just hope I can recoup my tolls. J

Life is an adventure. Isn’t it?

Have a great weekend.

Stacy

I'm sorry that you've received this disappointing news. As you note, however, there is an opportunity there--good luck, and have a great weekend.

You're certainly in good company with some other awesome authors I know who've been dumped by their publishers and then gone on to self-publish the rest of their series. They seem to be doing well. You can do this, too. Let me know if I can help. :hugs:

Jeff - Thanks! It's nice to have options. Wasn't the case all that long ago, so I feel blessed in a way.

B.E. - I know authors like that, too. I just wish MY series was as popular as theirs! Haha! :)

Happy Weekend :-)

Ivy - Gotta make it an adventure or else life would be boring. Right? :)

Sorry to hear. The publishing industry is like wading through mud at the best of times.

Keep beating that drum :)

Having published a sequel with a different publisher, I know now that was a mistake.

It was my impatience that did me in. The original publisher was going through some transitions and I got tired of waiting on them, so I offered it to another (bigger) publisher and they snapped it up. But it was a mistake. They treated it like a stepchild the entire time.

Live and learn.

Sorry to hear about the publishing deal. But I'm glad to see you're trying another avenue, rather than crying in your beer.

If it's part of a series your best bet would be to self publish it. You're trying to build your fan base and for those of they who've read the first two and know there is a third, and it doesn't come out, you'll lose those readers .

If you need some help with any of it, you know where to find me.

Wendy - Can't stop druming!

Maria - Yeah, gotta keep that impatient thing at bay. That means taking my time in finding an editor. I want to do this right, but not pay a fortune for it, either!

Michael - Yeah, no crying in the beer. Of course, I don't DRINK beer... :)

Anne - My series isn't so much related but in the same world (they're pretty much stand alones). Still... the book is written, so it might as well see the light of day.
