Cooking, a Library Event, and a Christmas Tree

I cooked last night! Okay, I sort of cooked last night. I only heated the ham in the microwave, but the boxed cheesy scalloped potatoes had to be prepared and put in the oven. That’s cooking, right? Hee hee J

We also cut into our last Kringle (which do freeze well, by the way). I’ll be sorry to see it go. Those suckers are GOOD!

Today the hubby and I are going down to the Centerville library to see Tess Gerritsen. I gotta remember to take her book. And hopefully I remember to get my picture taken with her.

I forgot to do that when I had dinner with Meg Gardiner in Austin. D’oh!!

I’ve decided to shop for a new Christmas tree. Maybe I’ll do it today, after the library event. Our current pre-lit tree only half-lights and trying to find the culprits for the dead strings is pretty fruitless—maybe if just one light went out instead of the whole string… But nooooo!

I see that Lowe’s has a slim 7-1/2’ tall tree. With 800 lights! I’m thinking that’s the one I want. It’ll just barely clear the ceiling. Not sure if I’ll be able to put a topper on it, but if it’s narrow, then I don’t care. I just want something narrow. And pre-lit. Can’t forget that important feature!

Saturday is the big football game. I'll be at the OSU Horseshoe rooting for our Wayne Warriors to win. I really feel like this is their year. Can't wait for the game. It's supposed to be sunny. No rain!! Yay!

So… Have you put up your tree yet? How big is it? If it weren’t for all the dated ornaments, I’d get a really small tree, but I’ve been collecting dated ornaments since we got married (meaning #37 is going up this year) and I’m not quitting!

Have a great weekend and Go Wayne!!! J

I wish we lived closer because I have a brand new tree I bought last year and never used.

My neighbor was moving and he was getting rid of his much bigger tree so I took it home and dressed it up. :)

Remind me again what Kringle is.

Heck yeah, cheesy potatoes from a box is cooking! As are hash browns, fries, etc. that go from freezer to oven. Or vegetables that go from freezer to stove or microwave. :)

Haven't put up my tree yet, will probably wait to next weekend when my daughter's home from college. I find that I get tired of it if I get it out too soon. Good luck with yours and have fun at the game!

Maria - I'll forward you the e-mail showing you what a Kringle is.

Jennette - Bought the tree today, so it'll probably go up sometime this weekend. I don't mind the tree, as long as it's not up before Thanksgiving. It won't come down until after New Year's, because I feel it's celebrating BOTH holidays! :)

We'll probably get our tree the weekend before Christmas, after both kids are home. It will be almost too big to get in and out the door, but will still not be quite big enough for the space it goes in (11' ceiling), and when it leaves in mid-January, it will leave behind a massive trail of needles that we'll still be cleaning up next year. Enjoy meeting Tess Gerritsen, and good luck to your football team!

We have a high ceiling, so we usually get a 10 footer. With the kids activities, we're trying to figure out WHEN we'll get it.

And congratulations on #37.

I don't know whether to apologize for getting you addicted to the Kringle goodness or celebrate that they have another convert. ;o)

I got the tree up a couple days ago. It's a pre-lit 3 ft. All small ornaments for that sucker. Sometimes I miss a bigger tree and the ability to put on my glass ball ornaments, but then I remember we don't have room, it's just the two of us, and i don't want to deal with a bigger tree. ;o)

Jeff - I do love the smell of a real tree, but not the hassle.

Michael - Thanks! We just celebrated our 36th anniversary on Dec 1st.

Beth - Celebrate! Celebrate! I love those Kringles!

That's not even close to cooking. But I did see your tree. Lovely.

Ivy - I knew YOU wouldn't think that was cooking. Haha! :)

Oh my gosh, no, but as usual, you cracked me up.

Good stuff.
