Pictures From My Columbus Zoo Trip

Here are some pics we (Hubby and I) took while at the Columbus Zoo (clicking on the picture should enlarge it).

This is Nora. She was born at the zoo on Nov 6, 2015. Five days after her birth, they had to pull her from her parents (who are still at the zoo), since the mother was no longer caring for her. They still keep her separated from the older polar bears. When she gets bigger, she'll probably end up at another zoo.

We managed to get to the zoo early enough to see her swim.

She's such a cutie!

Here's a video about her from YouTube (in case you want to see more).

It always seems like the animals are sleeping when we go to the zoo. But these lions just cracked us up. Looks like they had partied hard!

They're zonked out all over!

Couldn't resist taking this one. :)

This here is Oswald Cobblepot. He was named via a naming contest (the little fella was born in March). Gee, I wonder why that name won?

 These are Humboldt penguins.

My daughter just loves penguins of all sorts!

The hyena in the pond is searching for some goodies (even though there aren't any fish in the pond!). You can also see the zebras in the background.

So... Do you like to visit zoos? If you do and you're ever in the Columbus area, this is a nice one to visit. We may go back some day (Hubby goofed and didn't clear his memory stick and he ran out of room, so he didn't get all the pictures he wanted).

Hope you have a great weekend!

Stacy

Haven't been to a zoo in a while. Love the polar bear; from what I recall, they are extremely smart--and extremely dangerous. I imagine removing Nora from her parents' "care" was a delicate operation. Have a great weekend!

I visited the Columbus zoo years ago - it's a nice one. Those lions do look like they partied hard.
Happy Blitz Day!

Like JeffO, I can't remember the last time I've been to the zoo. Maybe when I get grandkids...which isn't gonna happen anytime soon!

Thank you for the pictures though!

Oh...BTW...you're being BLITZED today. Enjoy. :)

Loved the pictures of the zoo! The polar bear was so cute and who can resist penguins??

Last zoo I was at was a small one when we lived in Prescott, Arizona. I'm waiting for it to cool off in the fall/winter to visit the Phoenix Zoo where we now live :)

Happy Blitz!

Oh I love zoos. I've been to the Columbus Zoo - very, very nice. Little Lola is a doll and a half.

If you're in che Chicago area, be sure to checkout Brookfield Zoo. Lincoln Park Zoo in the city is nice too - and free.

Happy Blitz Day!

Animals are so wonderful and zoos are often part of larger wildlife foundations - so cool!

Nice zoo pics. I do like zoos as long as it's not too hot and too crowded. It's fascinating just to watch the animal behavior.

Happy blitz day! Bloggers are going to turn your blog into a zoo today.

My hubby and I love to visit zoos. We get a membership each year so we can visits zoos in other states for free or at discounted rates. I've found that just before or just after it rains is the best time to go to the zoo. The animals love the rain on a hot day.

I haven't been to the Columbus Zoo but I have been to some nice ones like the Philadelphia Zoo and the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. I do love seeing the animals, I just wonder sometimes if we should really keep them confined.

Love the pics of the lions and that polar bear sure is a cutie!

Happy Blitz Day!

Yes, I love to visit zoos, and any kind of animal sanctuary. Our zoo here in Atlanta has a group of pandas, and I could watch them for hours. Your polar cub is adorable, too.

How ya feeling? A little bit woozy, maybe? Well you should, because you are totally getting BLITZED today! Enjoy!

Count me in as your newest groupie. Nice to meet you. :)

I have mixed feelings about zoos. I love looking at the animals, and think they do great work with breeding and conservation, but at the same time, animals shouldn't really be taken out of their habitats and put into cages.

Wonderful pictures :-)
I love penguins too, as well as anything feline.
... ok, any animal full stop!

Thank you for sharing and happy blitz day from BooksChatter!

Awww so precious!!! I love seeing the animals at the zoo, but the smell gets to me, especially in the summertime. Stinky animals smell even stinkier in 100-degree temperatures, it seems!

Have a great Blitz weekend!

Why did the polar bear's mama stop caring for her?

Those lions are too funny. I love the big kitties. :)

Spacer Guy - I do enjoy watching them, but feel bad at the same time. Thanks for visiting.

Mary H. - Yeah, never knew lions could be so funny. Thanks for visiting.

Stephanie - I didn't really notice the smell so much. You'd think I would since it rained.

J Lennie - I'm glad I had something to share. It's rare, isn't it. Haha!

Suzanne M - I have no idea why the mother stopped caring. Zoo officials said it's lucky she cared for Nora for 5 days. If not, Nora might not have survived at all. Thanks for following!

Mason - Penguins are great. Even the hockey team. Haha! Thanks for visiting.
