Our Weekend in Chicago (In Pictures!)

I spent the weekend in Chicago and actually took some pictures!

We rode the "L" to the museum area and walked along the lake to Navy Pier. The Chicago River looked nice. Well, except for that big TRUMP building staring at me. Ugh.

Proof I made it to the Navy Pier!

I have yet to ride the new Ferris wheel, mainly because it was kind of dreary out. Maybe another time.

The Tall Ships were visiting the Navy Pier, so we decided to check them out.

I love taking pictures of the masts!

More masts!

Thought this was a cool perspective.

Hubby and me!!

This ship came from Norway!

After all the ship viewing (we actually got to get onto the ships and check them out), we ate dinner at Giordano's. I've been there a couple of times, but this was the first time I actually got the Chicago style stuffed pizza (ours was stuffed with cheese, pepperoni, mushrooms, and onions). Oh. My. God. I think that was the best pizza I've ever eaten! Will definitely have to go back. Maybe the one in Indianapolis (since it's the closest!).

And of course, a trip to Chicago means a trip to Racine and the O&H Danish Bakery. We bought TWENTY Kringles. Yep. 20. They're nicely packed in our freezer.

Actually, they're stuffed in there!

All in all it was a wonderful weekend. It had been too long since our last getaway.

So... Did you do anything fun this past weekend?

Have a great Monday!

Stacy

Seeing your pictures make me homesick. I'm sure it's no longer the Chicago I left though.

re: pizza
How could you live on this planet for so long and not have deep dish pizza? You poor deprived thing!

Glad that's done now. LOL. I like deep dish. Hubby makes a fantastic deep dish pizza. Someday I'll have to do a tutorial on my blog on how he makes one.

cool photos. I wish the few times I visited Chicago I had more time to see the sights. (all business trips)

Maria - I've eaten thick crust pizza, but never the stuffed deep dish. But it's not like I can get it around here, ya know??

Mac - There's so much to do there, we have to pick one thing. Gives us an excuse to go back and pick something else! :)

Love the pics! Looks like you had a great time! I've never had Giordanno's, but Gino's East is a classic, and awesome.

My weekend was mostly spent running back and forth to Lowe's and helping my husband with kitchen remodeling work. Not fun in and of itself, but the results will be so worth it!

Jennette - My son's girlfriend raves about Giordano's pizza so I had to finally try it. Maybe next time I can try Gino's East.

I look forward to seeing your new kitchen!

Nice pics! I see you're reading "End of Watch"--I expect to finish it tonight. Will we get a review on Wednesday?

You posted a picture of that pizza on Facebook. I saw it on my phone and drooled on the screen. Now here it is again. Drat, I drooled on my keyboard.

Jeff - Since I just started End of Watch TODAY, I can pretty much say that I will NOT have finished it before tomorrow night. Next Wednesday, hopefully. :)

Linda - My work is done, then. Nice to see you back!! :)

Looks like a fun weekend! I spent some of my weekend finishing "Ghostly Liaison." What a fun read. This is the kind of ghost story I like! When will Book 2 be out?

Valerie - I'm so glad you enjoyed Ghostly Liaison! But I have no idea when Book 2 (Ghostly Interlude) will be out. I'm still working on revisions (I know, I know--you can slap me!). It will eventually be published, though. One way or another. :)
