Happy Halloween! And My Calendar Works!

As I was looking at my iPhone yesterday morning, I noticed the notification for the Bengals game said it started at 9:30 am.

9:30 am? Not 8:30 am?

I stared at this for several moments to make sure it was actually coming from my calendar instead of from ESPN (because the game started at 9:30). I opened my calendar app and sure enough, the game times for all my sports teams were CORRECT!

I don’t know how it happened, but YAY! My calendar now works. All is good with the world.

For now. J

Apparently my Halloween spirit comprises of music videos. This one is fun. Hope you enjoy it, because… BEETLEJUICE!

Weekend sports update:

  • High School Football: As I already reported on Friday, Wayne won on Thursday. They ended up being #1 in their Region (I believe this is a FIRST) and will play the #8 team (Lancaster, OH) on Friday at home. Yay!
  • College Football: USC Trojans also played on Thursday and won! And OSU Buckeyes squeaked by one on Saturday (whew!).
  • NHL: Penguins beat the Flyers on Saturday in what seemed to be a rather exciting 3rd period (3 goals in 55 seconds by the Pens!). Sure wish I could watch the games, but I refuse to pay for the NHL package for just one team (and moving to Pittsburgh isn’t all that feasible, either—although I’ve thought about it!).
  • NFL: Rams and Steelers were both on a bye week. Figures. Couldn’t they have had different bye weeks? And the Bengals game ended on a tie. I just had to laugh at that game (I’m not a “true” fan, but I will root for them most of the time).

In case you were interested… All Romance Ebooks is having a Halloween 50% rebate sale that ends today. Lots of books to choose from (including MINE!).

I’m getting an eye exam today. The doctor will dilate my eyes, which means I can pretty much forget about writing, or reading. But at least I’ll get new glasses out of this (my right eye has been twitching, which usually tells me I need a new prescription). I hate my current pair, and have since I got them two years ago. I was just too cheap to get them replaced until now.

So… Do you wear glasses? How often do you replace the frames? And if you don’t wear glasses (or contacts)… lucky you!

Happy Spooky Monday! Oh, and did you notice? My 13th post for the month!!!

Glad your phone is on time now.
Was that not lame the game ended in a tie? Yes, let's send the Brits our very best.
I wear contacts. Not the cheapest but I'd never go back to glasses now.

Huzzah on the phone. And Happy Halloween!

I've worn glasses since I was six years old and the teacher realized I couldn't read the board. They assumed I was dumb because I couldn't speak English. But once they fixed me up I learned English and wasn't so dumb after all. :)

Since then it's been nothing but eye surgeries since my eyesight progressively got worse. The last one seems to have stabilized my vision.

Alex - I'm not too fond of those London games anyway. Kind of isn't fair to the home team--they have no advantage at all (in regards to fans yelling). So I'm okay with them getting a tie. :) Re: contacts -- I tried them once. Loved the freedom, but with my stigmatism, they didn't work out so great. :(

Maria - Eye surgery scares the crap out of me. Bad enough when they have to puff that air in my eyes. I'll stick with the glasses. At least my eyes aren't THAT bad. I can see and read (somewhat) without them, but that puts a real strain on my eyes.

OSU did not look good Saturday, did they? At least they won!

I wear contacts during the day, and glasses in the evenings. Since I don't wear them a lot, I only get new frames every 2-3 years.

Been wearing glasses since I was in the third grade. Don't replace the frames that often, because I like the ones I have now, and if they're still sturdy, why bother? I am overdue for an exam, though. I have bifocals, but am back to either reading over the tops of the frames or holding my arm out as far as it will go to see anything. Have a fun Halloween!

Jennette - Sometimes I wish I could wear contacts and then I go rubbing my eyes and am so THANKFUL I don't. I can't imagine how many I would lose. Haha!

Jeff - I have trifocals and right now that middle piece bugs the crap out of me. And, of course, it's the part I use for my laptop. Can't wait to replace them. The fact my right eye twitches all the time is immaterial. Or maybe not... :P

That reminds me, I need to make an eye appointment. I've worn glasses for several years, but have trouble with them when I'm on my computer. The screen is blurry with them on and I can't see with them off. Time for a new pair of glasses. valeriecapps.com

Valerie - re: computer screen. That's why I wear trifocals. Couldn't see the screen through my reading or distance lenses, and removing my glasses became a pain.

I wore glasses most of my life (thick lenses, couldn't-see-without-them kind). Then I had LASIK surgery and I was glasses free for almost a decade until old age and the my-arms-are-too-short syndrome caught up with me. Now I wear blended bifocals with a mild distance correction and a much needed reading/computer one.

Indian Hill HS (younger grandson Cooper) made the playoffs. They go up against Alter HS in Kettering. It's a tough pairing. IH needs a major upset.

Linda - You paid for LASIK and it only lasted a decade? Dang. Good luck in the playoffs. Alter is tough.
