I'm Home!

Wow! What a difference a day makes. Saturday was so nice on the ship. Temps were in the 70s (maybe 80s). It was sunny. I was in virtual heaven. Then Sunday happened.

Rain and wind and cold and cold and then more cold. Drove from the 60s in New Orleans to the 20s in Dayton. Brrr…

Oh well, it was to be expected. We had a great time on the cruise, though. And Cozumel was probably the best of the three ports.

It was also the one that got us the most sore.

Yeah, our bodies just aren’t what they used to be. Or maybe Hubby is just a speed demon (zoom-zoom).

Our excursion was called Surf and Turf. First we rode in 4x4 Terracross buggies along dirt trails, which happened to have a few pot holes. But hey, what’s the point of a 4x4 if you can’t drive it on a rough road, right? At least the tour company gave us some bandanas to cover our faces (yep, *cough-cough* it was dusty). Then after riding along the trails, we stopped at the beach where we picked up our speed boats.

Everyone’s boat worked except ours. So they moved us to another boat. Apparently one that had a bit more power than the others. They should have warned Hubby ahead of time. He kept cussing out the other drivers they were going too slow.

In the meantime, he was having a blast driving over the waves.

I think I was the only one who got drenched, though. I swear, it felt like someone poured buckets of water over my head after Hubby plowed through some of those waves.

You wouldn’t think hitting water in a boat would hurt, but when you get airborne (and yes, Hubby managed to do that a few times), landing isn’t all that soft. We were both feeling it in our backs later that day.

At least it wasn’t just me…

Hubby had a blast driving (I didn’t want to drive) and I did my best to stay inside the boat (there weren’t any seat belts!). He might have permanent finger prints on the inside of his thigh—there wasn’t any place else to hold onto!! But even with all that, I’ll never forget this excursion. It really was fun. A scary fun. Like a roller coaster. And I love roller coasters!

I’ll get pictures downloaded sometime this week and should post them Friday.

While driving home yesterday, Hubby and I were able to listen to the Steelers/Bengals game (love my Sirius-XM radio). So glad the Steelers got their stuff together during half-time and came back to win. I was beginning to worry about them. Too bad the Ravens couldn’t have lost, though. Would have made next week’s game against them less stressful.

It’s kind of nice being back in the land of faster internet service. Although, I wouldn’t mind still being on that boat, either. One of our dinner companions were on their second of three back-to-back-to-back cruises. Ahhh… Must be nice. One day I see that happening, though. After Hubby retires.

So… Do you like roller coasters? Does fast driving scare the crap out of you, too? A good scare or bad scare? I like good scares. As long as it doesn’t require my body to be bounced around (I swear, I bruised my back!).

Happy Monday!

Stacy

Welcome home!
While Surf and Turf sounds fun, I might fall into the category of the body just isn't able to handle that stuff well anymore. I know landing on the water with a boat is like coming down on cement.
Steelers really pulled that one out of their...hat...didn't they?

Alex - Steelers pulled that out of someplace all right! I told Hubby at half time that Tomlin better be chewing their butts out. Guess he did! :)

That's the kind of vacation my hubby likes. Speed.

Welcome home.

Your vacation sounds so fun! DH and I would have loved that speed boat, and he would have driven just like your hubby. And we would probably be just as sore afterward. :)

Welcome home, and thanks for bring back at least a little warmth! Yeah, you missed the worst!

Maria - Hubby thought he liked speed, too. Until he hurt his back. Haha! Doubt it stops him the next time, though.

Jennette - I have a feeling we haven't SEEN the worst yet. **shiver**

Welcome back! We went from about 40 on Sunday morning to 20s by afternoon, then ended up around zero this morning. Ah, winter.

Jeff - I'm hoping it warms up a little more by Friday. I'm going to the Ohio Lantern Festival and it's outside. Brrr...

Glad they gave you a new boat. As for the Steelers, I thought Cower did a better job with them than Tomlin.
