That birthday dinner we were supposed to have last night?
Cancelled. The hospital called to remind Hubby of his PET scan and I happened
to answer. Seems he was under strict orders not to exert himself the day before
the scan, which is this morning. Yeah, that even meant driving to a restaurant
and socializing with the family (I asked). Who knew that could cause unwanted
results? Not me! Glad I asked, though.
To top it off, Hubby could only eat protein and veggies (no
starches, sugars, or caffeine), so I basically had to cook for him.
My birthday dinner was turning into a nightmare.
I survived, though. Hamburgers aren’t my all time favorite
meal, but they are pretty easy (especially on the George Foreman grill!). And I
like broccoli, too.
I’ll still have a birthday celebration dinner, though. My
friend is coming over next Sunday to grill/cook (her present to me): grilled
shrimp, corn on the cob, potato salad, and CAKE. But I’m opening my presents
today!! Well, at least those that are here, like the box I received from my
parents (I’ve been looking at it for a few days now, itching to open it!).
It just doesn’t feel like a birthday unless you open a
present. Right?? But the best present I can get will be a clean PET scan from
my hubby. Keep fingers crossed for us!!
Since I’m trying my best to add more pictures to my blog (I
might not have told you that, but I am), here are two pictures I took at
Friday’s and Saturday’s Dragons game (I posted these on Facebook, but if you
aren’t there, you’re not about to see them, huh?
The sky turned really pretty on Friday night. |
I love our new scoreboard. Okay, it's not that new. They put it up last year. Still love it, though. |
Remember… my Goodreads Giveaway is coming to an end TONIGHT
(11:59 pm PDT to be exact). If you know someone who might be interested in
winning a copy of Bite Me, I’m Yours,
please let them know.
So… Did you watch the British Open yesterday? Quite an
ending with some great golf. Glad to see Henrik Stenson win. First major win for
him at 40 years old. First major win for a male Swede. Pretty historic.
Have a great Monday!
Stacy

Happy Birthday!! Sorry your dinner had to be a downer. But prezzies! And you'll have postponed fun. :hugs: Fingers crossed for your hubby's PET scan.
Yes, the George Forman grill is amazing. We did burgers on ours last night, too. And chicken strips the night before.
Awesome pics! Thanks for sharing. And, yep, we watched the British Open, too. Pretty awesome for Stenson. =o)
Have a great day, too!
B.E. - Haven't used that George Foreman grill in, like, FOREVER. Still worked great (and I didn't poison anyone!). :)
Happy birthday! Sorry you had to postpone your dinner. The one next week sounds good though.
And that is a wicked cool scoreboard.
You don't give yourself enough credit when you cook.
And birthdays are just a day to feel special. You can do that any time.
re: diet
I did a lot of research on cancer cell growth when my first dog came down with cancer. You want hubby to eat protein and fats. Carbohydrates are the bad guys. Cancer cells multiply faster on those sugars.
There's a lot more written about it than there used to be.
I hope you guys get good news for today.
The Open was so much fun to watch!
Happy Birthday!! A good result would definitely be the best present.
I grilled some broccoli on the bbq the other night in tin foil with a sprinkle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar - delicious!! :)
Alex - That scoreboard is wicked. We oohed and ahhed over it last year. And to think, the Dragons are only a Single A team!
Maria - Tech said we should know the results by Wednesday. **fingers crossed**
Jemi - I tend to forget to watch the British Open because it comes on earlier than usual. Glad I remembered this year!
Happy Birthday, Stacy! Hope the box from the parents has some cool stuff in it, but most of all, hope hubby's PET scan comes out well!
Happy birthday a day late--and I hope the husband's scan is CLEAN!
Jennette - The box did have some cool stuff. And a $50 GC for B&N. Whoo hoo!!
Jeff - Thanks. Me, too!!
Happy Birthday to YOU. Happy Birthday, to YOU.
Great gift your friend is making room. Love scratch meals.
Ivy - I love my friend's cooking! And she's making homemade pierogis Saturday morning!!! Yum!!!
