Finished Reading “Never Flinch” and “Alien Desires” is available!

My tenth book (wow!) is now live. You can now acquire Alien Desires in digital and print. I have been really bad in getting the word out. I just don’t seem to be motivated to do much lately, which is not good, especially now. I wish I knew what causes these mood swings. I’d like to blame the weather, but it’s probably one of my medications, most likely the hormone therapy one I take to keep the breast cancer away. I really hate taking pills, but I do it because they seem to be working. At least I only have three more years of this particular pill.

In the meantime, I’m just being really lazy and not motivated to do much of anything. But if you’re interested in my latest book, look for the blurb and buy links at the bottom.

My thoughts: I love Holly stories. This one has no “woo-woo” horror stuff in it. Strictly thriller/suspense (which can be horrific at times as most books in that genre are).

My thoughts: I liked this one a lot more than the first book in the series. Probably because the first book didn’t really mention the C7 until near the end. This time it’s up front and so much more suspenseful. I liked Sam and Brody, too.  

Tomorrow is RELEASE DAY for Biting the Curse. Last chance to get it at $2.99, too. By Friday it’ll be at its regular price of $4.99. So far my advertising garnered around 20 pre-sales. That’s the best I’ve ever done (that I know of). Didn’t make my advertising money back, but I rarely ever do. I think I just need to get more books out there. And I’m working at it (slowly, but surely).

On Thursday I turn 62. I start collecting Social Security in September (apparently I have to be 62 for a WHOLE month before I can claim it, and September is actually August’s payment). I’m taking a chance I won’t make $17,000 a year in book royalties. And if I do, well, I’ll have myself a happy dance and then worry about the consequences!

So… What age do you think you will retire? I don’t really consider myself retired, but in a way I am, since I don’t have to work if I don’t want to. Semi-retired, maybe? I doubt I’ll ever give up writing and selling books. It’s who I am now.

Tuesday is Release Day!

That’s right! Ghostly Interlude goes live tomorrow! Happy happy joy joy! Today I’m taking my glasses back to the optical shop and getting them changed to trifocals. I just can’t handle these things on the computer or reading my book, so I’m not going to torture myself any longer.

One thing these glasses did was trigger a huge mood swing on Friday. I’m talking rage followed with a crying jag. I was a mess. I figured my hormone therapy pills were to blame for that so I stopped taking them until I can talk to a doctor, who I hope to see today, after I turn in my glasses.

Never a dull moment is it? I’m ready for some dull, though. Honest!

A Vampire Wedding is Available!

I approved the publication for A Vampire Wedding on Saturday. I would have done a pre-order if I could have done that with Barnes & Noble, but I couldn’t, so I just went with “publish now.” The purpose of a pre-order makes it so it looks like I sold a lot on release day, which I guess generates some kind of buzz somewhere. I can’t imagine I generate any kind of buzz. Yet. Someday I will, though. You just wait and see!

Once A Vampire Wedding shows up for sale in the important places (B&N, iBooks, Kobo—it’s already on Amazon HERE), I’ll send out a newsletter (and post the buy links on the page and along the sidebar).

Hubby and I made it to the Dragons game on Friday. Turned out to be a nice evening. And the Dragons won, which is pretty rare this year. They’re the only team that HASN’T won in the double-digits yet. Ugh. We were supposed to attend Saturday’s game, too, but the weather had gotten way too cold and windy (wind chill was 36 degrees). I’m okay with cold weather during football games; it’s kind of expected. But for baseball? No thanks. Plus, Hubby just wasn’t up to that. Heck, neither was I!

Tonight is game two of the NHL Eastern Division finals of the Stanley Cup playoffs between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Tampa Bay Lightning. I wasn’t able to watch all of game one on Friday (only the last period), and I guess it was just as well (the Penguins stunk!). I expect a better game tonight! Let’s go Pens!!

So… Have you ever made plans, wrote said plans DOWN (on paper, even), and then completely forget? I did that yesterday. Planned on fixing dinner in the crockpot. Put note on kitchen counter, with some of the ingredients, to remind me. Did I remember? Hell, no. That would require going INTO the kitchen. D’oh!

In other news…. The Penguins made the playoffs! YAY!!! Talk about waiting until the last game to do it (and yes, it was the very last game of the season). Now they’ll face the Rangers in the first round. I’m hoping the games show on television here, because I really need to burn off some calories. How? From the stress (and I’m sure the games will stress me out, but I’m addicted and can’t give them up). Let’s go Pens!!!

So… When you buy books, what format do you buy and what store do you buy them from? I’m a Barnes & Noble on-line shopper and I prefer paper, but will buy the Nook version if it’s a new author. Then, if I really, REALLY like their books (like I’ve fallen in love with M.Q. Barber’s books), I’ll purchase the paper version. Just doesn’t feel like I OWN it if I can’t see it on an actual bookshelf.

EXCERPT:

PROLOGUE

Charlene Gentry hadn’t known what to expect upon her death. She was basically a good person, so would Heaven welcome her? Or would those commandments she’d broken condemn her to Hell? Not that she had a choice, but she’d assumed those were the only two destinations.

Certainly not 5542 Sycamore Lane.

She must be dead. How else could she explain the view of her bedroom from above her bed? She didn’t own a mirror on the ceiling, though she’d dreamed of putting one there, and the eyes of the body—her body—lying on the bed below were closed. Then there was that damn needle…

Oh God no. What had that bastard done?

She needed to get back into her body. Maybe then she’d be okay. She moved her arms as if performing the breaststroke, but remained hovering over her bed.

The front door slammed. “Charlie, it’s me.”

Robbie. Oh thank God. He’d help her. Her big brother fixed everything.

“I’m in the bedroom!” She flapped her arms like a bird, but still didn’t move anywhere. How the hell did she get down?

Barnaby barked from outside. The sliding door scraped opened. “Hey, fella. Charlie? You out here?”

“What, are you deaf? I said I was in the bedroom!” No response. What if he couldn’t hear her? What if he left before he found her body? If only she could get off the damn ceiling.

Tick, tick, tick. Barnaby’s claws skittered across the kitchen floor.

“Whatcha hurry?” Robbie asked. Soon the chocolate Lab burst through the bedroom door, Robbie close behind.

“Charlie?” His eyes widened at the sight. He rushed to her body and placed two fingers against her neck.

Thank God he’d found her. But did he get a pulse? Was she alive?

“Shit.” He pulled out his cell, punched 9-1-1, and tossed it on the bed. Ringing sounded through the speaker. After yanking out the needle, he proceeded to perform CPR on her body.

“That’s it. Resuscitate me. Bring me back, Robbie!”

“9-1-1, what’s your emergency?”

“I need an ambulance at fifty-five forty-two Sycamore Lane. Hurry! It’s my sister. I think she OD’d.”

“No, I didn’t,” Charlie said. “I swear.”

“Is she breathing?” the operator asked.

“I don’t think so. Just hurry! Come on, Charlie. Wake up!”

“You don’t know?”

“She has no pulse. I’m performing CPR.”

“Why do you suspect she OD’d?”

“Because… Oh shit.”

“Sir?”

“She has a history of abuse, okay? And I found her with a needle up her arm. Just get the fuck over here!”

Barnaby sat in the corner and whined at Robbie.

“Someone is already on their way,” the operator said.

Robbie pumped her chest frantically. “Dammit, Charlie. Come back! Don’t leave me.”

Charlie pictured standing beside her brother and the next instant she was there. Thank God. “I haven’t left you,” she said. “Don’t you dare give up!”

Her appearance made no difference in Robbie’s actions, so she was invisible, too. Figured.

Where were the damn paramedics? They should have been here by now. She only lived a couple of blocks away from the fire station.

Robbie checked her neck again and swiped at his eyes. “Why, Charlie? Why?”

Was he crying? Giving up? “No! Keep pumping on me!” She reached out to shake him and her hands went through his body. “Holy shit.”

He continued with the CPR. “I trusted you! How could I be so stupid?”

“You’re not stupid, Robbie. It was Carl. He did this!”

Paramedics rushed into the house. About damn time. They shocked her body, but the machine didn’t beep with a heartbeat. They zapped her several more times. All with the same result.

They pronounced her dead.

Robbie fell to his knees and hugged Barnaby. His sobs wrenched her heart. But if she were really and truly dead, why did her chest hurt so much?

Oh crap. Maybe she was in hell.

Awesome News--I'm Happy Dancing

Valentine’s Day ended up being an AWESOME day for me.

No, I didn’t get any flowers or candy. My husband did bring home some cookies for me, and we went out to dinner, but that’s not the awesome news (mainly because he usually brings me goodies home if someone brought goodies into work and we always go out for dinner on Friday).

The awesome thing that happened? Finding My Sunny Vampire on Amazon for sale in the Kindle format! Then I found it on Kobo. Yes! It’s back! (Links are located on the sidebar, for those looking for them.)

Let the happy dancing commence!

So while I didn’t have an official release day, it’s so nice to see my book out there again. I’ll be happier when it’s everywhere (like, B&N), and in print, but I’m sure it won’t be long now.

Release Date Postponed *Sigh*

I kind of knew this might happen.

Today was supposed to be my e-release day for My Sunny Vampire, but with the changes at Lyrical Press, and the fact all books have now been pulled to be reformatted to show Kensington as the publisher, well… let’s just say that all takes time.

As soon as I find out my new release date, I’ll be sure to let you know. Just in case you’ve been waiting to purchase it!

In the meantime, my cover is one of many featured at Calisa Rhose’s blog today. She’s having a contest to see which featured author can generate the most comments. I don’t know about you, but I was highly disappointed in the football games yesterday. All this talk of snow and NOTHING! I love watching them play football in the snow. I hope the Super Bowl gets snowed on - lots! It will certainly make it more fun to watch, especially if there aren’t any teams I care about in it. All I have left to root for is the Colts. If they don't make it in, I couldn’t care less who wins.

At least I have hockey. Go Pens!!
