Finished Reading “Can’t Let Go” and Recovering from a Migraine

I spent all weekend suffering with a migraine. Yep, all weekend. Saturday AND Sunday. Don’t know if it came on because of the contrast I drank (or was injected with) for the CT scan on Thursday. I do know it wasn’t COVID. It’s been a rough weekend, that’s for sure and I hope to never have another like it. Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn’t reappear today.

Here’s what I read since my last update:

Book 49

Dates read: September 7-11, 2023
Title: Can’t Let Go
Year of publication: 2013
Author: Jessica Lemmon
Genre: Prequel to a contemporary romance
Series: Love in the Balance #1.5
# of Pages: 100
Paper or plastic: Mass market paperback
How obtained: Purchased from author
Blurb from Book:  Sadie Howard would never admit there's such a thing as love at first sight, but she can't deny the connection between her and sexy Adonis Aiden Downey. She also can't deny she loves to kiss him-his mouth might be his most precious asset. Despite every promise to herself not to get involved any deeper than a first date, she can't keep from seeing more of Aiden . . . in more ways than one.
Aiden Downey had no idea the hot blonde from the club would trigger his protective, gentle nature, but the moment she drops her guard and he sees the real Sadie Howard, he's a goner. When a family crisis puts the brakes on their budding romance, can Aiden find a way to hold on to her? Or will he lose the best thing in his life just as quickly as he found her?

Recommend: Only if you have Book #2 to read next
My thoughts:
I thought this would be a fun novella to read between Will Trent books. I was wrong. It would have been fine if I was ready to read the next book in this novella’s series, but I’m not. No happy ending to this story. In fact, it leaves you hanging. I’m not a happy reader.

Not sure what I’m going to do today. I’m almost afraid to move because I do not want that migraine to return. Are you like that after a looooonnnnng migraine?

Happy Reading!

When Your Headache Won’t Go Away…

I think the not wearing glasses bit has finally gotten to me. At least it did yesterday. I don’t know how many times I took Tylenol, but none of the doses seemed to get rid of my nagging headache. I’ll be so glad when I get those glasses back.

Of course, now I wonder how long that prescription will last. Finding out I have a cataract forming on my right eyeball kind of shocked me. And irritated me, since the doctor knew about this back in October (during my scheduled eye exam) and didn’t seem fit to mention it then. Because I’m pretty sure I would have remembered being told that.

Anyway… because of the headache, I don’t have much to say. Hopefully the pain will be gone by the time this post airs and I’ll wake up all rested and ready to walk.

That’s if my knee isn’t acting up. I swear, I’m falling apart. Leaky heart valve. Funky eyesight. And arthritic knees. Aaack!

So… How has your body reacted to getting older? (I refuse to say old age, since I don’t feel old.)

**fingers crossed for a good week**

No Wednesday Reads, But a Happy Feeling

I didn’t finish reading any books this week. Maybe if I read more in the car while my daughter drove to Pittsburgh and back I’d have a book to report, but I didn’t feel like reading going there and had a headache coming back.

I hate headaches. This roller coaster weather isn’t helping any, either.

Today, though, I hope to get rid of a different kind of headache. It’s on my list of things to do, but I forgot Hubby has a couple of doctor appointments today, so now I’m thinking it might not happen until tomorrow. In any case, I will be writing our last mortgage check. The house will be ours, free and clear.

Twenty years. That’s how long we’ve lived here. We managed to cut ten years off the loan when we last financed the house, and when I make that last payment, we will be officially debt free. What a happy feeling.

And man, we could use a little happy right now.

So… Does paying off a huge loan give you a happy feeling, too? If not, what would?

Happy Reading!
