Addicting Olympics and Upcoming Events

Are you watching the Olympics? I’m enjoying it so far. I have a feeling I won’t be writing so much in the next couple of weeks.

It’s always something, isn’t it?

And Hubby leaves on a business trip today. Here I thought I would get LOTS of stuff done. Nope. Got myself pretty much glued to the set.

Why is it so addicting?

On Friday I’ll be at the Rust City BookConvention in Troy, MI (near Detroit). The book signing on Saturday is free to the public, so if you’re in the area, I hope you’ll stop by.

Hey! Since I’m not making a post on Friday (want to keep that magic number of 13/month) AND I won’t have finished reading “End of Watch” (big book and the Olympics) to have a Wednesday Reads, I’ve decided to finally post that short story I mentioned on my blog HERE and HERE. So come back here on Wednesday and give it a read!

It’s a silly story (I was 15 when I wrote it--see the picture?), and kind of long (6600 words), but I hope it makes you laugh.

Funny thing, as I was hunting for this short story to take a picture of it, I found a bunch of other stories I had written in high school. Disturbing stories.

I wonder if my teacher worried about me. I was quiet in class. You know you always have to worry about the quiet ones, right? Haha!

So… What’s your favorite events on the Olympics? I like the swimming and gymnastics and beach volleyball and those bicycle races (oh… the women’s race was HEARTBREAKING!!). Go USA!

Happy Monday!

Addicted To...

Okay, can I say I have a serious problem?

I am addicted to…conferences! I really never saw that coming, either.

I signed up for my fifth of the year (Central Ohio Fiction Writers Conference). I really shouldn't have spent the money, but it was local, and small, and they were screaming for attendees! Yes, I'm weak.

But for what it's worth, I will probably NOT attend RT or RWA Nationals next year. Not unless I'm published (or have a paying job). Those conferences are way, way expensive and not really feasible any longer. I will be sad to miss them since next year both are within driving distance (RT in Kansas City, RWA in Atlanta).

To recap, these are the conferences I have gone/will be going to this year:

So, what kind of weakness do you have? What do you have trouble saying no to? Come on, spill. I really want to know!
