Reading Update and Release Day!

It’s no April Fool. It’s finally here: release day! Finding the Perfect Mate is out in the world, waiting for you to read.

Since there was a delay getting the book to Google Play, I’ve decided the pre-order price of $2.99 for the e-book will remain until April 30th. That way everyone has a chance at the sale price.

You can get your copy at one of these vendors:

Amazon
Barnes & Noble
Kobo
Apple
Smashwords
Google Play

Here’s what I read since my last update:

Book #13

Dates read: March 20-27
Title: The Dark Corners of the Night
Year of publication: 2020
Author: Meg Gardiner
Genre: Suspense/Thriller
Series: UNSUB Series #3
# of Pages: 337
Paper or plastic: Hardback
How obtained: Purchased
Blurb from Book:. He appears in the darkness like a ghost, made of shadows and fear—the Midnight Man. He comes for the parents but leaves the children alive, tiny witnesses to unspeakable horror. The bedroom communities of Los Angeles are gripped with dread, and the attacks are escalating.
Still reeling from her best friend’s close call in a bombing six months ago, FBI behavioral analyst Caitlin Hendrix has come to Los Angeles to assist in the Midnight Man investigation and do what she does best—hunt a serial killer. Her work is what keeps her going, but something about this UNSUB—unknown subject—doesn’t sit right. She soon realizes that this case will test not only her skills but also her dedication, for within the heart of a killer lives a secret that mirrors Caitlin’s own past. Hesitancy is not an option, but will she be able to do what must be done if the time comes?
My thoughts: You don’t need to have read the other books in this series to enjoy this one, but hey, you might as well read them first. Especially if you love edge-of-your-seat suspense. Definitely recommend.

So… What exciting thing are you doing today?

Happy Reading and Happy Release Day to Me!

Reading and Other Updates

I did it! Finding the Perfect Mate has been uploaded to all my vendors so if you pre-ordered a copy, you will get it on April 1. And I decided to keep the e-book pre-order price of $2.99 through April 30th, mainly because I was soooooo late in getting it uploaded to Google Play.

Also due to this stupid virus.

I also got the paperback version uploaded. Amazon is already showing it for sale, but delivery will occur after the 1st. I expect the paperback to show up at B&N and Books and Company (on line) sometime next week (if I’m lucky).

It was nerve-wracking there for a bit, but it’s all behind me now. Yay!

Here’s what I read since my last update:

Book #12

Dates read: March 14-20
Title: An Extraordinary Union
Year of publication: 2017
Author: Alyssa Cole
Genre: Historical Romance
Series: The Loyal League Series #1
# of Pages: 252
Paper or plastic: Trade paperback
How obtained: Purchased
Blurb from Book:. As the Civil War rages between the states, a courageous pair of spies plunge fearlessly into a maelstrom of ignorance, deceit, and danger, combining their unique skills to alter the course of history and break the chains of the past…
Elle Burns is a former slave with a passion for justice and an eidetic memory. Trading in her life of freedom in Massachusetts, she returns to the indignity of slavery in the South—to spy for the Union Army.
Malcolm McCall is a detective for Pinkerton’s Secret Service. Subterfuge is his calling, but he’s facing his deadliest mission yet—risking his life to infiltrate a Rebel enclave in Virginia.
Two undercover agents who share a common cause—and an undeniable attraction—Malcolm and Elle join forces when they discover a plot that could turn the tide of the war in the Confederacy’s favor. Caught in a tightening web of wartime intrigue, and fighting a fiery and forbidden love, Malcolm and Elle must make their boldest move to preserve the Union at any cost—even if it means losing each other…
My thoughts: I’ve said before I wasn’t a fan of historical romances, but what I really mean is the British historical. American historical is a whole nother puppy! I loved this book. There was so much danger going on, too! Kept me riveted. I will certainly pick up the next in the series and recommend it for any historical romance lover. Actually, for any romantic suspense lover!

So … What’s been keeping you busy lately?

Happy Reading and wash your hands!

I Was a Guest Blogger

I wrote a post over on Delilah Devlin's blog about visiting Russia without ever leaving my house (that's because I was crazy enough to write a book set in that country!). It was posted yesterday. Here's a link to go check it out:

https://www.delilahdevlin.com/blog/2020/03/23/stacy-mckitrick-how-i-visited-a-country-without-leaving-my-house-free-read/

Only 1 week + 1  day until Finding the Perfect Mate releases! Although, the way Amazon works, you can order the paperback now, it just won't be delivered until after the 1st. I'm still having issues with Smashwords (which feeds into Kobo and Apple), so send some positive vibes that I get it all worked out in time.

I really hate it when they change the way they want files. I've never had problems before, so of course when I'm on a tight deadline, I run into problems. Ain't that the way it usually goes?

Ugh.

At least it looks to be a decent day outside today. Might actually take a walk. I miss walking, and luckily I'm still allowed to do that in Ohio.

So … You got any plans today?

Reading Update and Blog Appearance

My friend, Jeanne, interviewed me over at Eight LadiesWriting. She also had some WONDERFUL things to say about Biting the Curse. Go check it out at: https://eightladieswriting.com/2020/01/14/jeanne-interview-with-stacy-mckitrick-2/

Here’s what I read since my last update:

Book #2

Dates read: January 6-11
Title: Where Winter Finds You
Year of publication: 2019
Author: J.R. Ward
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Series:  Black Dagger Brotherhood #17.5
# of Pages: 445
Paper or plastic: Mass market paperback
How obtained: Purchased
Blurb from Book:. When Trez lost his beloved to a tragic death, his soul was crushed and his destiny relegated to suffering. But then he meets a mysterious female, and he is convinced his true love has been reincarnated. Is he right? Or has grief created a disastrous delusion?
Therese has come to Caldwell to escape a rift with her bloodline. The revelation that she was adopted and not born into her family shakes the foundations of her identity, and she is determined to make it on her own. Her attraction to Trez is not what she’s looking for except the sexy Shadow proves to be irresistible.
Has fate provided a grieving widower with a second chance … or is Trez too blinded by the past to see the present clearly? In this sensual, arresting story of redemption and self-discovery, two lost souls find themselves at a crossroads, where the heart may be the only compass that can be trusted …
My thoughts: Only J.R. Ward would call a 400+ book a novella. I would have said it’s a whole novel, and it’s a really good novel, too. I like how she corrected the huge mistake many readers claim she made in Trez’s first story (#13, The Shadows). I mean, you just don’t kill off the heroine! But she’s redeemed herself in this book. At least, for me. And I’m so happy for Trez!

I’m almost finished with the edits to Finding the Perfect Mate. Then it goes back to my editor to make sure I didn’t screw anything else up! After she gets another read and I fix it again (if there’s anything to fix), then it’s on to my copy editor (i.e. daughter). I may actually get this book ready before release day. Which is April 1st, in case you forgot. It’s on preorder now at a reduced price of $2.99 (after April 1 it goes up to $4.99). You can order it here:

Amazon:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B081TM9KC1

Barnes & Noble: https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/finding-the-perfect-mate-stacy-mckitrick/1135043124?ean=2940163189878

Kobo: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/finding-the-perfect-mate

Apple: https://books.apple.com/us/book/finding-the-perfect-mate/id1488836101

Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/992009

So … Have you set any reading goals this year? I set the bar low this year: 50. I read 57 books in both 2019 and 2018, so I figure it’s doable.

Happy Reading!

Reading Update and You Can Pre-Order Finding the Perfect Mate!

I really got brave this week. I listed Finding the Perfect Mate with a release date of April 1, 2020. The book is currently being edited, so I don’t think I’ll have any problem meeting that date. But I’ve never put a book out that early before. Gives me lots of time to advertise, I suppose. We’ll see how it goes.

And what’s a pre-order without the pre-order buy links?

Amazon          Barnes and Noble

Apple              Kobo

Goodreads

I haven’t set it up on Google Play yet because it appears they don’t allow pre-orders without uploading the book. I’m not ready to upload anything yet (heard too many horror stories of the wrong file being sent to customers), so it will be awhile before I set it up there. And the pre-order price is $2.99. After release day it will go up to $4.99. So better to pre-order than wait!

I added the Goodreads link in case you’d like to add it to your reading list. You do, don’t you? J

Last week, Author Voices asked if they could interview me. Me. Yeah, I was skeptical at first, but it appears they’re legit. On Monday, my interview went live. You can check it out HERE.

Here’s what I read since my last update:

Book #49

Dates read: November 14-26
Title: Demons Are a Girl’s Best Friend
Year of publication: 2018
Author: AE Jones
Genre: Paranormal romance
Series:  The Realm Book 2
# of Pages: 231
Paper or plastic: Trade paperback
How obtained: Purchased
Blurb from book:. Aleksei Chesnokov is one busy demon. Between leading the immigration team to bring realm demons to earth and preparing to one day succeed his father as clan leader, his priorities and current project plans do not include finding a mate.
When his clan is attacked by the very demons he’s trying to help, Aleksei must enlist the help of Naya, the leader of the realm guard. A strong, determined, frustrating female, she challenges his decisions and acts before she thinks.
As they work together to stop an impending war, Aleksei is drawn to Naya and the world she protects. When she’s taken hostage, Aleksei will move earth and the realm to save her. Because with all his agendas, checklists, and timelines, the one thing Aleksei never planned to do was fall in love.
My thoughts: The first half of this book kind of repeated the story from the previous one, just in different points of view. And frankly, I didn’t like it. But once it got past the first book’s story, I became interested again. I hope the third doesn’t overlap as much, but seeing as that brother wasn’t in it all that much, I’m guessing it’ll be a completely different story. At least I hope so.

I had to erase a LOT of words from my current project yesterday. But I think I got it all straight now. At least I hope so. If I think positively, that should help. Right? If you celebrate, have a Happy Thanksgiving and try not to eat too much!

Happy Reading!
