No Wednesday Reads, But a Happy Feeling

I didn’t finish reading any books this week. Maybe if I read more in the car while my daughter drove to Pittsburgh and back I’d have a book to report, but I didn’t feel like reading going there and had a headache coming back.

I hate headaches. This roller coaster weather isn’t helping any, either.

Today, though, I hope to get rid of a different kind of headache. It’s on my list of things to do, but I forgot Hubby has a couple of doctor appointments today, so now I’m thinking it might not happen until tomorrow. In any case, I will be writing our last mortgage check. The house will be ours, free and clear.

Twenty years. That’s how long we’ve lived here. We managed to cut ten years off the loan when we last financed the house, and when I make that last payment, we will be officially debt free. What a happy feeling.

And man, we could use a little happy right now.

So… Does paying off a huge loan give you a happy feeling, too? If not, what would?

Happy Reading!

Stacy

Congratulations! That is absolutely awesome.

Paying off loans has not usually left me feeling happy so much as relieved.

Good luck to your husband with the doctors today.

Awesome you are completely paying off your house! Congratulations.
This weather sucks. That's all I have to say about it.

Congratulations! Are you planning a mortgage burning party? I'm not sad at the moment but if we could pay off our mortgage, I'd be very happy indeed. If not a party, I'd at least do a happy dance!

Now that's worth celebrating!

Congratulations! That's huge!

When we paid off our mortgage I felt the weight of the world was off my shoulders.

I used to have a calendar message pop up every month to remind me to pay the mortgage. Out of giddiness, I let it pop up for months afterward just so I could grin and delete it for one more month.

Congrats on the mortgage payoff! Isn't that a great feeling! Now you get to look forward to a different, lovely bill twice a year - property tax! (j/k, it's a big hit, but still less than a house payment!)

Hope all continues to go well for your hubby's treatment.

Jeff - I think I'm more happy than relieved. Happy I don't have to write another mortgage check. At least for awhile. Who knows what'll happen if we decide to move.

Alex - Weather is sucking today. Lots of rain and wind. Ugh.

Valerie - A mortgage burning party sounds fun. I'll have to check into that!

Linda - I really never thought this day would come, that's for sure!

Maria - I just realized... I can remove the mortgage column from my payment worksheet (it tells me when certain bills are due for that payday). Yay!

Jennette - We're already paying the property tax and insurance ourselves. We got rid of the escrow account when we refinanced. But it IS a great feeling--no more mortgage!! :)

I did a month-long happy dance when we paid our trailer mortgage off.

Paying off big loans are HEAVEN. Oh my gosh. I just love the feeling. Congrats to you both. Very, very cool.
