And I’m certainly not getting any writing done. Priorities!
But I’m amazed at how much I remember of the first season of
TVD. So much so, that I thought some of the characters showed up in later
seasons. Wrong! Maybe my memory isn’t as bad as I thought.
I’m having fun watching the episodes again. Especially now
that I don’t have to zip through commercials. I swear, The CW shows more
commercials than any other network. Each episode of TVD is 40 minutes long.
That’s 20 minutes of commercials when it airs. This is why I record all shows.
Well… except for sports. I do watch those live.
Recently, Spectrum changed our “bundle” package by taking
out all the movie channels and charging us separately. I don’t know what kind
of “bundle” that left us, except phone and internet. But I wasn’t about to pay
$59 for channels we rarely watch, so I called and cancelled that portion. I’d
probably quit cable altogether, but we like our sports and face it, TV is
easier to record and watch than downloading from some internet site (especially
when our internet is wonky at times).
So… How often do you read really long books? Do you like
them long? I prefer long to short, but sometimes those thick ones will cause me
to hesitate picking it up. I like time to read those books (because they tend
to be complicated reads due to many story lines) and if I see I won’t have
time, then I’ll find something shorter. But in this case, I guess I forgot I
wanted to watch TVD (and have little time to get the series watched). Ooops.

Thank God for DVR! That's how I watch most shows now. We have Direct TV with no movie packages and it's expensive, but hey, I do watch a ton of shows. (Commercial free of course.)
Really long books take me months to read. What I get for being a slow reader.
I've read a few long books, but I really have to be invested in the story to stick with it.
re: cable
Ugh. Cable has gotten out of hand. They keep raising their prices and that drives even more customers away. I don't know how they don't see the connection.
We have terrible internet connection--especially the last few weeks. My provider finally suggested upgrading my router to see if that would help. I'm going to swap it out this morning and test it.
That said, we like streaming. My friend recently canceled her cable and she's a huge sports fan too. I'll have to ask her what she does to get her fix now that she goes without cable.

Alex - I was a slow reader in high school. I can read some books in a day now. Of course, I'm lucky if I can see distances after doing that.
Maria - I got your e-mail. Between binge-watching and having my future granddaughter visit, I've been behind in my mail. Busy, busy!
I regularly read long books. Just finished Solzhenitsyn's "Cancer Ward," which clocked in around 560 pages. As long as the story keeps me turning pages, it doesn't matter how many of them there are!
Jeff - I've always preferred longer books. I feel like I know the characters better. That's if they're written that way. Of course, if they're not, I'm probably not reading it! :)
I love a long book if the story is strong enough to keep me involved but I'll give up on a long one faster if it starts to lose me. A short one I might stay with because...well, it's short.
We're okay with our cable but my latest guilty pleasure is streaming Netflix.
