But it looks to be a fun time like
it does every year. I’m excited!
Here’s what I finished reading this week:
Book #31
Dates read: August 21-23
Title: Black Diamond
Year of publication: 2016
Author: Susannah Sandlin
Genre: Romantic suspense
Series: Wilds of the Bayou, #2
# of Pages: 255
Paper or plastic: Trade paperback
How obtained: Purchased
Blurb from book: For some people, the untamed beauty of the bayou is a place to hide. ForLouisiana
wildlife agent Jena
Sinclair, it’s a place of refuge—one where she can almost forget the tragedy
that scarred both her skin and her soul. But when the remains of yet another
fisherman turn up, Jena
realizes that Bayou Pointe-aux-Chenes is not safe for her…or anyone else.
The mysterious deaths aren’t her only problem. A dangerous drug known as Black Diamond is circulating through Terrebonne Parish, turning addicts into unpredictable sociopaths. Jena’s investigation leads her to Cole Ryan—a handsome, wary recluse struggling with his own troubled history—who knows more than he’s willing to admit. If they want to stop the killer,Jena
and Cole must step out of the shadows of their pasts and learn to help each
other…before the evils lurking in the bayou consume them both.
My thoughts: Very good read. Lots of nice suspense (and a bit of gore thrown in). Romance was on the light-side and there’s very little sex, if that matters to you. You don’t have to have read the first one to read this one, butJena was a secondary character in the first
book, and, besides, the first book was really good, too! I’m enjoying this
series very much and heard #3 will be out sometime later this year. Look forward to reading it.

If I finish reading another book (what am I saying… I WILL
finish at least one book on the drive down there), I will post a Wednesday
Reads next Wednesday. Can’t guarantee I’ll post any other time. But then I
haven’t been doing a lot of posting as it is, so what’s the difference? Haha!
So… What are your plans for this Labor Day weekend? Wish you
were going to Dragon Con?
Happy Reading !

Have a great time at Dragon Con. I'd like to go as it's not too far a drive for me, but that means driving in Atlanta. And I hate driving in Atlanta.
Driving in Atlanta is crazy. I’m glad Daughter doesn’t mind driving there. We just park the car for the week anyway and walk every where.
Thx for book review. Have awesome time at Dragon Con. Sounds fun. Aready have too much on my plate, rather laze about somewhere. Just thinking about you reading book in a moving vehicle has made me seasick.
Tanja - I used to not be able to read in a car. Sure glad I outgrew that!!
Have a great time at Dragon Con! No real plans for Labor Day here--maybe some writing!
Jeff - Writing is good!
