My daughter loves Friday the 13th (you’d have to ask her
why). And I’m guessing (okay, maybe I know) she’s super happy that it happens
two months in a row this year.
The number 13 has never freaked me out. I still think it’s
funny that a lot of (at least the ones I’ve been in) skyscrapers don’t have a
13th floor. Hate to break it to all you occupants on the 14th floor, but the
lack of NAMING the floor 13 doesn’t mean it’s not the 13th floor.
Silly, silly, silly.
And while I love a good horror movie (not slasher-flicks,
though—gross is not scary, it’s just gross), I won’t be watching them because
my husband can’t stand them. Heck, he thinks The Abyss is a scary movie.
As for Valentine’s Day… I never really celebrated it. Besides
being a semi-depressing day to those people who don’t have anyone, my father’s
birthday falls on the 16th, so that was the holiday in our house. Then I
married a man who celebrates his birthday this month and I gave birth to our
son in this month, too, so Valentine’s Day is kind of brushed aside for all
these birthdays we celebrate.
Which is just as well. Birthdays are so much more…FUN. Don’t
you think?
As you can probably tell, it’s “two normal days.” for me.
But I have to keep in mind that Saturday will probably be a big date night
(hmmm… did I say PROBABLY? Haha!), which means the hubby and I will have to hit
the restaurant early (or be prepared to wait).
So… You got plans this weekend? Please share. I’ve got
nothing planned. Except, maybe get caught up in some TV watching. We’re a bit
behind in Gotham (like 15 episodes behind).
Now, THAT might make for some good Friday the 13th viewing. Hmmm…
Have a good one!

Other than the awesome idea of releasing my book near a Valentine's Day - which also happened to be a Friday the 13th (my villain is giggling over the irony and my heroine is flipping me the bird) - this is pretty much a normal day.
You're right. Birthdays are more fun. ;o)
Beth - Congrats on your release day! Here's wishing for lots of sales!
Haha, I didn't even think about it being the 13th, only that it's FRIDAY and I'm always happy for that! My plans? Stay in and write! The only thing Valentine's day ever was to me and my husband was one of our dog's birthdays, and he's gone, so... nothing now. Friday the 13th? No big deal unless it's in August, which is my brother's birthday... yeah, I had some fun with that when we were kids. Enjoy your TV binge!
Jennette - We'll see if I get my TV binge. Hubby didn't seem all that interested. I'm about ready to tell him if he doesn't want to watch the show to tell me and I'll watch it without him! :)
I didn't even know it was the 13th until mid day.
I deliberately treat the 13th as a lucky day only because popular culture says otherwise. I'm just a maverick at heart. :)
Maria - Well I guess you'll get three good luck days this year, then! (Feb-Mar-Nov) :)
I enjoy Valentine's Day. We already gave each other our gifts and that was fun.
Tim has off for three days, and we've already had a super nice first night.
Great kickoff to the weekend. Though if we hit Barnes tomorrow, it will be early as neither of us wants to be out during busy time.
Writing this weekend. And maybe taking down the Christmas tree. Yeah, it's still up. We'll be leaving a huge trail of needles to the door!
Ivy - Yeah, I'm not crazy about going out on popular date nights, either. Too many people!!! Enjoy your weekend. :)
Jeff - And with the snow, you'd see the trail, too, huh? Haha! I might have put the tree away (fake), but I do still have to take the box (old foot locker, really) that holds the ornaments down to the basement. It's just that it's making a nice spot to put things for now. Maybe if I walk into a few more times I'll be motivated to get it downstairs. I'll need help carrying it, though.
Thanks - we've had a pretty good night so far. And it's not even into day one yet.
Love that.
Just started to snow. Looks like glitter falling from the sky.
Normally I would have watched a good horror flick on the 13th...but I had a long day which gave me a headache...so the bed called to me early last night.
Now today I'm going to do my best to make it special for my sweetheart! :)
Ivy - It's snowing here now, too. But no glitter falling from the sky. The wind is whipping so fast, it's blowing horizontal! :)
DL - I ended up reading. Not a bad way to spend the night, either.
My Friday the 13th was a true unlucky day, but I'm not normally superstitious. Or romantic. V-day is just another day. My bad luck (getting my new washer delivered but it was broken and now I have to wait a week for the service call, meanwhile doing laundry at the laundry mat) and all that bitchiness netted me a few honey-dew projects completed by the ex-hubby (yeah, we still date).
I'm thinking my bad luck of Fri 13th was mere coincidence though. I was mean to a fellow author (sent a nasty e-mail refusing to review based on plagiarism issues) and Karma is kicking me in the butt for being witchy when I could have politely said sorry, but no.
Ah well, I survived both days, as always.
Donna - I think I'd be more than grumpy if my new washer was delivered broken. I'd be demanding a replacement or my money back or something. Hopefully you can hold out on doing laundry until it's fixed. I hate going to the Laundromat, too.
Nothing was planned, and I definitely didn't watch horror movies on Saturday. LOL!!
Thanks so much for coming by my blog and commenting about typing. Such a valuable skill.
ENJOY your day.

Elizabeth - Hmmm... horror movies on Valentine's Day. Of course, some men would consider romantic comedies a kind of horror, huh? So glad my husband doesn't! :)
LOL...they might think romance is horror.
Didn't someone mention horror movies unless I misread it.
THANKS, Stacy.
I mentioned watching horror flicks on the 13th, but not Valentine's Day (not that my husband would watch them on ANY day). That's what I get for mixing "holidays," huh? :)
It's ok...I am sure I was "mixed" up. :)
We were on the highway today (Sunday), and the winds were killer.
