Let Me Try This Exercise-Thing Again

Keep your fingers crossed. I’m going to the fitness center this morning.

I won’t try to work on the cardio, though. I may be stupid, but I’m not THAT stupid. I’ll ride the bike to warm up, but that’s about it. In the past, working the weights did NOT affect my knee, so I assume that will still be the case. Sure hope so, anyway. The knee’s not perfect, but at least I’m walking somewhat normal now.

As for increasing my cardio, I have an appointment with my doctor on Dec 1st and hope to get on some kind of physical therapy session, where I’ll let them tell me what I can and can’t do. It sucks I can’t walk fast, though. It was the one exercise I didn’t mind and I didn’t have to go to the fitness center to do it.

Wayne High School football team won on Saturday. 56-14. Hope they keep it up all the way to the state final (which is Dec 5, by the way)!!!

So… I’m thinking about getting a Fitbit. Anyone here own one, or something similar? If so, do you use it and does it help you keep track of your heart rate?

Now, cheer up. It’s only Monday. It doesn’t bite. Have a great day!

Tim has a wrist thing but not a Fitbit. Though people love those he didn't want to have to charge it every three or four days, so he went with Garmin? I don't know the spelling.

I looked at YouTube review videos from men. He loves his. Battery lasts for a year, no charging.

Ivy - The problem with the Garmin is that it doesn't track my heart rate (I checked it out on Consumer Reports). That's really what I want from a wrist device (if I decide to buy one, that is). But the battery life sounds impressive!

By the way, I survived the fitness center today. Knee seems okay. Then again, I only worked on the upper body today. Tomorrow I'll work on the legs. Then we'll see how well it goes. :)

That' understandable. I thought though, and this was awhile ago so I might be fuzzy on the subject, but I thought they also had a higher-end one that tracks heart. But I may be off.

Very cool on the exercise. Keep up the great job!

Knees are tricksy. They're also unforgiving when you've pushed them so far. They get even with me all the time!

What the heck is a Fitbit? Hope the workout went well and that your troublesome knee didn't give you any trouble!

Maria - You'd think the knee would be sympathetic. Any kind of exercise would benefit the whole body! Today went well, though. And I walked on the treadmill (slow--2 mph--for 20 minutes). So much better than that blasted bike! :)

Jeff - Fitbit is a device you wear around your wrist that measures your activity. I heard about them a year or so ago. I don't necessarily want to measure my (in)activity, but I do want to measure my heart rate so that I might be able to notice any changes (and to make sure I'm reaching a certain level once my knee lets me work out a little harder).

I don't personally have FitBit but know several people who do and they love it. Best of luck with the knee! I always mess mine up as soon as I start exercising . . . because I seem to also always stop o_O lol

S.K. - Yeah, I usually stop, too. I'm hoping not to do that this winter! :)
