Fall Colors

I've been waiting forever (yes, forever) for these trees on our street to turn color (they are not in my yard, but across the street). All the maples in my yard had turned and their leaves fallen, but these pear trees (non-fruit bearing kind) remained green and full.

Then I went outside to get my paper yesterday morning.

Did it happen over night, or was I just too blind to see the change? I swear, I don't remember them looking so pretty the day before!

But alas, rain was forecasted, which meant probably wind, too (I was correct in both regards). And by the time I get home from work, the sun is setting. I took my chance (hoped for enough daylight) and snapped these pictures before the rain ruined it all.

I really hope the color lasts more than a day. Especially since I've waited so long. But if it's like my tulips, it will be short-lived (those tulips always seem to bloom just before a huge storm or cold snap). I'm glad I was able to capture them on film.

Well, not film, since I don't use film anymore. Gee – what do I capture them on? My memory stick? That just doesn't sound right.

That is one nice thing about where I live. Nice fall colors. You don't really get them where I'm from, because Seattle is all evergreens.

Oooo pretty. I miss the variations on fall colors you get back in the Great Lakes region. Mostly we get yellow and brown here in eastern CO. Thanks for taking pics and sharing them today. Makes me feel like I'm back home. =o)

Matt - growing up in Southern California, I don't remember the trees looking this pretty, either. And I know what you mean about Seattle (I was stationed at Ft. Lewis for 17 months).

B.E. - You're welcome! Never thought I lived in the Great Lakes region. Maybe I do! Shows you what I know.

Thanks for stopping by. It's much appreciated!!

Very nice to see the trees. Our leaves are about all gone now and we're into the colder days.

Burrr.

Happy Fall and Happy Blogging.

The cold has returned here, too. At least the leaves are still on the trees (for now).
Thanks for stopping by!

When I got out of work yesterday, it was snowing and I saw three little fall trees still left.

So pretty.
