Give Me My Coffee!!

My morning routines are pretty dull. But put a kink into one of them and it kind of throws me for the rest of the day.

My routine includes making coffee. I come downstairs, get the paper, then start the brew before heading to the computer to check on my e-mail & blogs. Well, yesterday I did all that, but when I came back to the coffee pot, it was empty.

What the???

The light was on as if it had brewed. And I could have sworn I heard the beep when it finished (probably phantom hearing). But the plate was cold. Not a good sign.

I tried unplugging it, thinking it needed a "reboot" (funny how we think in computer terms nowadays, isn't it?). After a minute, I plugged it back in and pressed start.

Nothing.

Well, drat!

I hate the coffee at work (it's free, too, so that should say something), but I was willing to drink it when I remembered I had my container of instant coffee in my drawer. Whew!

Last night I tried to clean the pot, thinking that was the culprit, but it wouldn't clean, either. So now it looks like I'm going to have to go out and buy a new coffee pot. Man, and this one wasn't even three years old.

Bummer!

I sure hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Kind of makes me nervous!

What kind of coffee machine are you going to get? Any special kind in mind?

I have a Mr. Coffee, so I'll probably stick with that. If I can get the same kind, then I'll have a spare decanter (just in case). I like the fact it turns off automatically (for those days I forget!!).

One word......Keurig! :)

DL - I don't think so.
#1 - I'm a cheapie (and those things aren't).
#2 - I like a pot, not a cup.

Since I'm the only coffee drinker in the house, I have no one to compete with. It's all mine anyway.

I had a bad coffee debacle a week or so ago... I only wrote about the first half (not covering the part about steaming, sodden, grounds all over the counter and floor).
I wish you luck.

Hey, Erin! I remember that blog. Maybe I should consider myself lucky that when my coffee pot broke, it didn't brew? No mess to clean up anyway.

I know nothing about coffee or coffee pots, but I guess I'll have to think about it when hubby decides to live with me full time again.

Coffee-drinkers are like a lunatic mob without their java, so I try to stay under the radar until they've had their caffeine fix. Greg keeps looking at that Keurig, so I've been keeping an eye on them at Amazon to see how low they will go. He only drinks a cup or two so I won't need a big pot.

Sorry your machine died. RIP Mr. Coffee.

Thanks, Maria. I hope to remedy the situation today.

Hi, Stacy. Well, have you solved your coffee situation by now? I know what you mean about having your day thrown off. On Thursday morning, I had to renew my CPR training at work... I have over 100 employees in my department alone, so you never know what might happen. In any event, it was 3.5 hours out of my day, on top of which I only had one cup of coffee that morning. Typically I have 2-3 large cups. When the class was over and I got back to my office, it was already my lunch time...

Take care and have a good week, my friend.

Hi Jimmy! Yes, I got me a new pot yesterday. Pretty much the same kind as before - updated a little, of course. So now I have spare parts (if I should ever need them, that is).
