Blogging Temperatures

Hot—lots to blog about. Cold—not so much. Last month it was hot. Right now it’s cold (meaning boring). So what do I blog about?

Hmmm… Did you watch 60 minutes last night? What did you think about the self-driving car? Do you think it’s the car of the future? I remember way back in the 60s, when I was in elementary school, my teacher said we (meaning our class) would experience self-driving cars. Seems she wasn’t too far off, huh?

Would you ever “drive” one of those cars? I’m not so sure I would feel comfortable in one. Probably because of this dream I had, but still… That’s a lot of trust to put into a computer.

Have a great Monday. Hopefully I’ll finish the book I’m reading so I have something to blog on Wednesday! J

I'm too much of a control freak to ever let the car drive itself.

I'm still waiting for my flying car.

Maria - While a flying car would be awesome, I don't see it being very practical. Actually, I just see accidents waiting to happen. Mainly from those with the mentality that they no longer need to use the roads and can just fly anywhere. I still don't see how there weren't a ton of accidents in "The Fifth Element" in the beginning scene. Maybe a few people could have great reflexes and fly like that, but everyone? Not likely. Oh wait... Some of them were flown by computers, right? Hmmm...

The fact that a car's computer can already be hacked remotely is enough to put me off of a self-driving car. Much, much more needs to be done to secure them before I'd even consider it. And the hackers are always a step ahead of the good guys, so even then... hmm.

Jennette - Yeah, they would have to have something to make them hack-proof, huh?

I heard an interview on NPR recently with a guy who had been involved in some of the google self-driving car stuff. On the one hand, I think the computers may well drive better than a human; on the other, I really balk about personally giving up that control (though I don't have a problem with other people driving me, or taking a train....).

New definition to the "cruise control" feature. Yep, I'm looking forward to self driving cars. Can they arrest you for drunk driving if the computer was doing the actual driving?

There was a self-driving car on Harry Potter last night. Pretty neat.

Jeff - If you're a control freak, a self-driving car probably isn't any fun. Me? I don't care who's driving, as long as it's not me. Haha!

Donna - Hmmm... good question.

Ivy - I've only watched one Harry Potter movie. #4 (because Rob Pattinson was in it). Don't remember any flying car in that one.

Flying car in the second one.
